A rather large German Shepherd and a postal worker from New Zealand have formed a pair of unlikely, yet best of friends. One of the mailmen in the area does a daily round of delivering mail on his bicycle, but even if there’s no mail to be delivered, he always makes sure to pass by the German Shepherd and his owner Michael Collins.
Even though the stereotypical picture is that mailmen and dogs don’t get along often, that clearly isn’t the case here. There’s no barking involved, just some very appreciated hugs, belly scratches and some daily dose of petting.
Every time the mailman passes, he spends some time with the lovely dog and even gives him cuddles.
What the postal worker didn’t know, is that owner Michael has a well-hidden camera that has managed to capture footage of their daily interactions and it’s absolutely heartwarming, especially because other people don’t socialize often with the dog because of his looks. Even though the adorable German Shepherd Kyza is just seven months old, he certainly is a lot bigger than most other pups.
According to owner Michael, his dog doesn’t do too well with other people, but that’s not his fault. He says that the dog is greatly and often misunderstood because he has an impressive posture and lookers aggressive and/or dangerous, while in fact, he’s just a big teddy bear. You can imagine how welcoming the dog must feel if he gets a ton of love from a stranger every single day.
Michael also posted a video containing some of the mailman’s and Kyza’s daily interactions but he never expected the post to blow up and go viral.
“Just want to share something cool! Everyday whether or not we have mail this mail man always stops to see my dog who is only 9 months old. He always gets over looked as a dangerous or unapproachable dog, Maybe cause he’s big I am not sure,” he wrote in the caption. “He doesn’t bark at them or growl (Maybe the odd couple times he barks at people but which dog doesn’t) But this guy here always makes an effort to get off his bike to give him a hug and a pat!” Michael added.
Michael also hopes that his post on Facebook would reach the mailman in question as well. With over six million views and almost 15,000 people sharing the video, his chances are pretty good.
“I’m not sure who to tag on Facebook for him to see this! But thanks man keep up the good job and you’ve definitely got a friend waiting for ya!”
What an amazing video!
