The winter season isn’t all about cold weather that brings freezing temperatures.

In many areas, it also dumps loads of snow on the road which immobilizes motorists, especially those using small vehicles.

Getting stuck in a mountain of heavy snow is an absolute dilemma for motorists.

More often than not, the easiest and fastest way to get out of it is by using heavy equipment. But what if there’s none around?

Sandra Sam Newton, who lives in Ethridge, Tennessee, recorded a video on Monday morning.

In the clip which she uploaded on her Facebook account, an Amish man with a horse-drawn carriage was seen helping a stuck SUV about 80 miles southwest of Nashville.

The video showed the carriage approaching a white SUV stuck in the snow.

Newton mentioned that the vehicle had been stuck for a while and wondered if the “horsepower” could help.

The Amish man, along with the vehicle owner and other horses, worked together to free the car from the snowy situation.

As they pushed and pulled the SUV, Newton encouraged them by saying, “We’ve got push power now… Push a little harder. Push a little harder.”

After some extreme effort, the group successfully got the vehicle back on the road.

In the end, Newton exclaims, “We got ‘er done,” expressing satisfaction with the successful rescue.

History of the ‘Amish’

“The Amish are best known for their plain clothing, most of it self-made, and nonconformist lifestyle. Men and boys wear broad-brimmed black hats, dark-coloured suits, straight-cut coats without lapels, broadfall pants, suspenders, solid-coloured shirts, and black socks and shoes,” Britannica wrote on their website.

“The Old Order Amish shun personal home-based telephones but will occasionally use a communal one. They also eschew automobiles. They ride bicycles and drive horse-drawn buggies instead, though many of them will, on occasion and in emergencies, ride in cars, trains, and buses operated by others.”

Another tradition they prefer to keep alive is helping their fellow man out of unpleasant situations.

Thankfully, the Amish man was at the right place and at the right time when the incident happened.

Since being uploaded on social media, the video showing the rescue mission has amassed tens to hundreds of thousands of views all over social media platforms.

It’s what “horsepower” actually looks like in action.

Horses aren’t just magnificent creatures, they also possess brute strength.

According to the Horse Riding Guide, “Horses are generally strong enough to carry more than 300 pounds on their back, pull a load three times their weight, and bite with a force as heavy as 500 pounds per square inch. In fact, horses are so strong that today, many industries use the term ‘horsepower’ to describe the output power of various machinery.”

There is no wonder why the horses were able to pull the vehicle out of the icy ditch.

Considering the usual weight of an SUV which is between 2,000 and 6,000 pounds, the Amish man’s horses were absolute beasts.

Even online viewers were amused by the “horsepower.”

One viewer wrote, “That was a little emotional for me. I’m an old-timer that used to work with horses. I really miss them. Thanks.”

“Ah, the horse, the original 4×4 😂,” commented another.

While this one has a hilarious take on the video, “I’m a professional tow truck driver and I’m both impressed but also slightly nervous they gonna take my job!”
