As they arrived on the scene, they were immediately welcomed by a towering yet gentle Saint Bernard named Brody, who, despite being two years old, still carried the joyful demeanor of a puppy.
Brody’s owner, Dave Mazzarella, recounted a memorable incident from when Brody was just a 12-week-old pup.
On the day Dave brought him home and gave him a bath, the young puppy mysteriously disappeared.
After a frantic search inside, they realized Brody had ventured next door.
It turned out Brody had made his way to the home of Sally Reenhorn, a then 93-year-old widow who lived alone.
Sally vividly remembers that day: “There was a little puppy laying by my sliding doors and he was so cute! And little. And he stayed there, and that was Brody!”
