We love seeing round and fluffy cats on the internet. Though they are all fun and adorable to watch, some people just don’t realize how dangerous the cats are living their lives, and fur-parents are often guilty for putting them through this kind of situation. However, in today’s story, the cat’s case was understandable yet sad.

How King the cat turned into such enormous ball of fat and fur.

This cat grew into 36 pounds while with his previous owner. It was reported that King’s owner was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, and because of that, his owner would repeatedly feed the cat. King loved his owner very much, and so he experienced a deep heartbreak when his owner sadly passed away.

After King’s owner’s death, a team from SPCA of Wake County was able to take the lonely cat to their shelter, and they put him up for adoption. It just took a little time until someone fell in love with the cat and rushed to the shelter to see him.

“His photo on Facebook spoke to me.”

This was what Robin told The Dodo as she shared her own weight issues back in the day. She fell in love with the fat cat because she saw her past self in him, and she wanted to help him. Robin went to the shelter to see the cat with her own eyes.

She excitedly gasped and muttered, “Oh my god” as she entered the room King was in. Though at first she was worried that King might not learn to love again, her worries wore off as King allowed Robin to pet his belly. Robin proceeded to carry the gigantic cat into his carrier, and then she used a cart to gently pull the carrier into her car.

It was quite an ordeal taking King into his room upstairs, but Robin was not the least bit bothered to take him all way up there. As she introduced King to his new room, it was amazing how in mere seconds, King was already loving the room he was given.

King was affectionate to his new mother. He would just lie in Robin’s arms as soon as she sat down on the floor. He also met Robin’s dog, Rufus, and he did not seem to mind the dog’s presence in the room.

Robin was determined to slowly shift King’s lifestyle into a healthy one.

She makes sure that King could exercise himself by moving around the house or playing with the toys that Robin bought for him.

“My plan is to do a video, of me and my marathon clothes and King and his harness,” Robin said. “Then we’re gonna have slow motion, pretending to run, and then have Chariots of Fire playing.”

With this daily routine, she is sure to find a positive outcome when it comes to King’s diet.

Obesity in cats.

According to VCA (Veterinary Centers in America) Hospitals, approximately 30-35% of the current cat population suffers from obesity. They say that obesity in cats could shorten their lifespan, and they might even become more vulnerable to diseases that could be life-threatening for them.

It was all thanks to the people involved that King was able to be with a mother who tries her very best to help him. With Robin’s determination, she will eventually turn that round ball into an amazing active feline.
