How could someone shoot a dog like this?

A woman named Amal Andari and her friend were driving to a village near Beirut, Lebanon when they noticed a stray puppy walking down the side of the road. Andari, who is a volunteer for the rescue organization Animals Lebanon, couldn’t leave without giving the puppy some water to drink.

Andari and her friend approached the little dog. As they got closer to her, they realized that she had a huge hole in her head.

The puppy was clearly in pain, but she was still friendly. Andari told The Dodo:

“We saw a hole in her head. We stopped and walked down to her. She was a little bit fearful, but we called her, and she came, and she was wagging her tail. She approached us, but slowly, and we gave her some water.”

Andari and her friend took the little dog to a veterinarian’s office in Beirut, where she went in for x-rays.

After the puppy finished getting her x-rays, the women learned about the horrifying abuse that she had suffered. Her body was filled with shotgun pellets. She had clearly been shot dozens of times. One of those pellets had entered her eye, half-blinding her.

“There were so many pellets,” Andari told The Dodo. “We think that a bunch of teenagers had ‘fun’ shooting her.”

The veterinarian decided not to remove the pellets because he feared that it would do more harm than good. The veterinarian also discovered that the poor puppy had parvovirus, a disease that can be deadly if it’s not treated. The veterinarian told Andari and her friend that there was just a twenty-five percent chance that the puppy would survive.

Andari believed that the puppy would be able to fight for her life. She gave the puppy a name, Bondok, and waited to see what would happen.

Bondok was in critical condition for four days, but then she turned a corner and began recovering.

After a week, Bondok was released from the animal hospital. Andari’s friend fostered the little dog. Despite everything she went through, the dog was still playful and friendly.

“She’s hyperactive,” Andari told The Dodo. “She always wants to play. She plays with two small dogs, and the dogs are sometimes annoyed by her because she has a lot of energy. She’s unbelievable — this dog.”

Bondok is recovering well, and she’s happy as can be in her new foster home. Animals Lebanon shared a video of the little pup on their Facebook page.

Two ladies changed her fate!

Shot, blinded, in pain, starved and not knowing what was happening to her, Bondok’s fate changed when two individuals stopped their day to save her life! We don’t know who shot her, this is pure cruelty, she is just a puppy!
