The adoption story for many dogs is fraught and difficult. Thankfully, there are always people willing to get in the mess and do what is necessary to make sure that an animal has a home. Whether you go to a shelter or random circumstances present the opportunity, the story of adoption is always something worth remembering.
One woman recently documented her adoption of a stray puppy.
With cameras being on every phone, we get to see some wonderful things online. One woman decided that she was going to document the heartwarming story of her finding a small dog and taking it into her home.
Gabrielle Billow heard from her apartment complex that there was a dog hiding on the property.
One commenter on the video said:
it bothers me that the residents didn’t do anything to help him
And Gabrielle responded:
I know, me too. They said “we can’t have pets here” but that wasn’t a good enough excuse in my opinion. I’m so glad I spotted him.
Instead of sitting by and idly hoping that someone else would help the dog, Gabrielle got to work. She found the dog under a car started giving it pieces of sausage. What better way to a dog heart than with food, right!
Slowly, the dog emerged from under the car.
After a few licks from the sausage, the small dog realized that he really liked the taste of that! How could a person who gave him something this good be bad? Slowly coming out from under the car, he was finally getting more comfortable.
After many hours, the two had built up enough trust that she could pet him.
The process was a slow but important one. The little animal was scared and didn’t trust humans all the way. After hours of feeding and gentle words, the little dog finally allowed her to pet him and be closer than ever before. Soon, the two were fast friends!
Naming him Peanut, Gabrielle had a new friend!
The name seemed to fit the small brown dog. He seemed like a peanut! After building up more trust, Gabrielle took the little dog inside and decided that she was going to give him a forever home.
After seeing a few clips of Peanut in his new home, you can tell he is as happy as can be!
Giving a massive doggy smile and tail wag, Peanut is looking 100x better than before. It is amazing what a difference simply having someone care can make! Chewing on a bone or playing outside, Peanut is living his absolute best life.
There are still some hiccups (like forgetting you have a water bowl).

Despite these funny little moments, these two seem to happy to be together. A little compassion goes a long way in caring for those who need it. Gabrielle did more than a kind thing — she got a wonderful friend for life. Kindness counts for something!
