Unfortunately, many animals end up without a home lingering on the streets with a severe lack of food, help, and medical attention.

This little cat was only five weeks old when someone spotted him on the road, and the feline was in terrible shape. He was completely starved and his fur was infested with maggots.

It was clear that this cat wouldn’t have much longer to live.

Luckily, a kind woman named Kathleen found him on the side of the road together with a friend. When the two came close to the cat, it was obvious that the little four-footer needed medical assistance as soon as possible.

“We scooped him up and luckily had a box in the car, I was driving so my friend was holding him in the box. His eyes and nose were crusty and he was covered in wounds. Despite how awful he must’ve been feeling, he had a lot of energy and kept trying to escape the box the whole way home,” Kathleen said to Love Meow.

Shortly after Kathleen found him, he was taken to a veterinarian. He received antibiotics to treat his injuries and the maggots were removed as well.

Kathleen knew that this cat still needed a home to go to, and didn’t hesitate to take him in.

The woman actually never had the chance to have a cat because both her dad and her brother are allergic to felines. Kathleen was happy to finally have a kitty she should take care of. She named him ‘Dizzy’ and the cat was delighted to finally receive the help and attention he deserved.

“After seeing how sick the kitten was, my mom lightened up and said we needed to find him a home but we would care for him until then. We gave him a warm bath with Dawn soap, and he came inside.”

It took a few weeks of recovery, but the little kitty slowly became better.

He was getting happier, more energetic and certainly loves all the attention he’s been getting. Dizzy is even getting along with Kathleen’s three dogs!

“He started becoming more alert and pouncing and playing. We began introducing him to our three dogs slowly,” she said. “My dad said I could keep him until I left for school, but he had to come to school with me. As time went on, it went from that to, ‘we paid his vet bills, he stays here’.”

“He is now happy, a little bit plump, and best of all he is safe. He only goes outside on our screened in porch, but prefers a bed by a window.”

It’s been five years now since Dizzy was rescued and transformation is remarkable, to say the least!

After some time, Kathleen also got a new kitten friend named ‘Stripes’ and the two cats are now best friends.

How cute!
