Animals have this unexplainable instinct about humans.

They could sense whether a person is trustworthy and wouldn’t hesitate to show if they don’t like you.

Dogs bark at suspicious people, while cats hiss. But when they trust you, you will also earn their undying loyalty.

Orville was a stray dog who was looking for someone to trust.

Nobody knew much of his history – where he came from, if he had a family before, or how he ended up on that street in St. Louis, Missouri.

But what transpired since that day he ended up there until he was adopted is an incredible story to tell.

The stray dog was probably on the lookout for someone to help him.

With no family to go home to, he was hungry and not feeling a hundred percent healthy.

Unfortunately, he ended up as a stray dog, but he knew waiting by the bus stop would be his only hope.

He looked at the pup and didn’t recognize him; he was definitely a dog he had never seen in their street before. Nonetheless, he greeted the dog since it seemed friendly and meant no harm. The man went on and walked to his house.

The man reached his yard, and it was when he noticed that someone was following him. The dog!

The stray was following him the whole time from the bus stop.

He recognized that the dog needed immediate help because he looked skinny, dirty, and had visible scars, so he kept it in his backyard so he wouldn’t go anywhere.

However, he could not take the dog in forever.

He called the Stray Rescue of St. Louis team to help him save the dog.

SRSL Chief Donna Lochmann and her rescue partner, Natalie, went to the man’s home to check out this dog in his yard.

They expected it would be as challenging as their other rescues; it would take time to gain the dog’s trust to go with them, especially with a leash on hand, and he would resist when they carried him to the vehicle.

But they were surprised at how easy it was for them.

“He was an absolute sweetheart of a dog right off the bat,” Donna told The Dodo. “We were able to leash him up right away, and he went right with us.”

They named the dog Orville, and he turned out to be such a sweetheart.

Unlike other rescues who would prefer to stay in the backseat, Orville sat in front during his freedom ride like he understood that he would soon have the love and care he yearned for.

He was so happy to be rescued that he gave everyone in the shelter smooches when he arrived.

Donna and her team took Orville to the vet to check his overall health and plan on how he could recover.

After a few weeks, he was in good shape and ready to be adopted.

Orville got adopted in no time, and everyone’s happy he got a forever home.
