Scraggly, Emaciated Cat Is Rescued From Highway— Here’s How She Gets Her Fluff Back
It's amazing what a bit of love can do!

This past summer, a skinny, emaciated cat was found wandering the edge of a highway. It was clear the cat had come from a home before she ended up on the streets, but now she desperately needed help to survive. The sickly, white cat was taken to a pound, but because of her medical issues and nobody coming to claim her, she was ultimately scheduled to be euthanized.

This is when Chatons Orphelins Montréal stepped in to help. Chatons Orphelins Montréal is a rescue group located in Montréal, Canada, and when they heard this poor, white cat was going to be killed, they decided to take her in instead.

“It’s obvious that she had a family before she ended up on the streets,” the resue told Love Meow. “Surviving the outdoor life was difficult for her given the state in which she was found. She was not going to survive to get through the winter, but now she’s got a chance at a new life.”

“We named her Blanche-Neige as in the fairy tale,” they continued. “She was happy to finally receive attention.”

Even though Blanche-Neige appeared to be about 2 years old, she was very tiny and had no fat on her little bones. Her face was filled with sores, and crusts and scabs were visible. It was clear she needed medical attention, and even though it was scary, Blanche-Neige was a trooper when it came to the vet. Somehow, despite everything that had happened to her, she still knew the treatments were for her own good.

Blanche-Neige was treated for her infections and had to undergo a spay procedure. She spent the next few days resting and healing.

When the kitty was feeling better, she was sent to go live with her new foster mom Mathilde, and she looked so happy to finally have a home of her own.

“Snow White had a lot of sleep on her first day at her foster home as she had much healing to do after the long ordeal,” the rescue explained. Still, however, “She was finally able to get her beauty back. No more yellow and shaggy hair.”

Blanche-Neige’s new foster family kept giving her medications, and soon her eye infection was almost cleared up.

Roughly one month after she was rescued, Blanche-Neige had transformed into a veritable queen! Her coat had become silky and fluffy— but when her family gave the kitty her very first bath, they were shocked by how much fluff she had really been hiding!

As Blanche-Neige received the love of her foster family, she truly started to thrive.

“With good care, [Blanche-Neige] regained confidence and she became the little queen of the house. [Blanche Neige] loves attention.”

The scraggly, emaciated kitty found at the side of the highway has gone on to find a better life. She has gained a ton of weight and gets stronger every single day.

Now that she doesn’t have to worry about her next meal or shelter, Blanche-Neige focuses all of her attention on cuddles and love.

“She started to look like a Persian now that she had baths and brushings. [Blanche-Neige] is very sweet and affectionate. She seems to have put her wandering life behind her now.”

It has been nearly 5 months since Blanche-Neige, the former scraggly, scrawny kitty was rescued from the side of the highway and about to face impending death. Finally though, she’s back to her fun-loving, fluffy self.

Although Blanche-Neige is loving every minute with her amazing foster family, she is still looking for a loving furever home to spend the rest of her days.
