Brace yourself, reader – you’re about to see the cutest puppy that has ever been put on this planet.
In July of 2019, a stray shepherd mix was brought into the Dallas Animal Services and she was pregnant. She gave birth to 11 adorable puppies, however, the shelter staff realized that this litter wasn’t your average litter. They all happened to have facial hair!
Each puppy had its own unique set of facial hair – some with beards and some with goatees. But one particular puppy, named Salvador Dolly, had a very special feature – she had a handlebar mustache!
The little girl’s handlebar mustache is pitch black and very pronounced – and oh-so-cute!
The staff at the shelter did their best to care for the family of shepherd mixes for two weeks, however, they receive over 100 animals a day and knew that this wasn’t going to be sustainable for them. Especially the little newborns.
“Puppies are at very high risk for getting sick in the shelter environment, so we knew we had to get them out,” Allison Seelig, of Hearts & Bones Rescue, told The Dodo. “We went to meet them last week and were able to find an incredible foster in Dallas who took the entire family in!”
When the rescuers first met Salvador Dolly (also nicknamed Mustache Puppy, obviously), they had to do a double-take when they saw her.
“The first thing people ask is generally, ‘Is that real?’ [There’s] a lot of ‘Omg stop it!’ and squealing over her,” Seelig said. “Honestly, her siblings are also so cute so we were all oohing and ahhing over the whole group of them when we met them!”
In reality, Salvador Dolly is just 5-weeks-old, so it might seem a bit young to have such a hipster-inspired mustache, but she’s rocking her look with no shame in her game.
The entire adorable family is safe and sound with their new foster family, getting all the attention and medical care they require.
Each dog, including mom, is receiving lots of one and one attention and it seems as if they couldn’t be happier.
“The puppies are still nursing, which can be a lot for Mom to handle, but her foster makes sure to give her breaks to have some downtime,” Seelig said. “She’s also getting lots of food to make sure she keeps her calorie intake up!”
Out of the entire fuzzy family, it looks like mom is the one with the most energy right now.
“The puppies aren’t walking much yet, and they spend their days alternating between wrestling and crawling all over each other, snoozing in a cuddle pile and eating,” Seelig said. “Quite the life.”
Since the puppies are still too young to leave their mama, they’ll stay with their foster family until the end of August. Then, they’ll make their way to New York City where they’ll be placed into new foster homes while they await finding their forever homes.
Of course, we know it won’t take Salvador Dolly very long to find a family that would love to spoil her!
