Man builds an outdoor 'bar' that dispenses cashews and pecans for his neighborhood squirrels
It's called the "Nutty Bar" and it's absolutely adorable!

In the midst of a pandemic where many bars and restaurants are having to keep their doors closed, it’s good to know that at least some creatures still get to visit the bar.

It began as a little favor from an Ohio resident. Michael Dutko’s neighbors were having some problems with the local squirrels. As cute as they are, they can be quite a nuisance when you’re trying to bird watch or chill in your garden. Nothing personal on them, though. Every animal needs to roam around too.

How exactly would you rectify this problem without having to hurt the little furballs though? Leave that to Michael. He’s got it figured out.

Noticing that his neighbors’ bird-watching was getting upstaged by squirrels quite often, Michael hatched a creatively nutty solution. He just needed to give the squirrels something else to do, so they wouldn’t go after the bird seeds.

“Squirrels are people too. They’re just stealing the bird seed because they have no where else to go.”

Being an experienced woodworker, this gave Dutko an opportunity that most of us don’t get. He could use the skills from his hobby to actually fix a problem and help. That’s a win-win scenario if you ask me.

Everyone knows bird-houses and squirrel feeders. However, Michael didn’t want to settle for some plain-old cliche feeder. It’s not everyday he gets to tackle a project like this, so this one had to be special. What he planned was to craft a whole mini-bar, complete with a floor and the bar table.

The planning stages began, and Michael thankfully doesn’t need a permit or rent for this business.

After planning, measuring and 16 hours of construction, his little wooden bar took shape. He furnished everything a squirrel would need at the bar. There’s seats, drink stations and a restroom sign too.

Coors light? Budweiser? No thanks. Do you have Pecans or acorns, though?

Ladies and gentlemen, the Nutty Bar is now open for business! We have nuts and…yeah that’s about it. The service leaves something to be desired, but the scenery is great. With 7 dispensers sporting their own little labels, Michael went above and beyond for this project. Let’s hope the business draws in some profit to cover the building expenses.

Instead of Coors, Keystone or Corona, they’ve got pistachios, cashews, pecans and almonds among other nuts. All in all, a grand enough selection for its target demographic.

They need to hire some staff, though. Who’s gonna clean up all those droppings and serve the nuts?

Bird-feeders, beehives, doghouses and now squirrel bars. When are we getting rat restaurants and bat clubs?

Michael doesn’t exactly plan on expanding franchises, as far as I can tell. Although he is making more Squirrel bars. The buzz from internet exposure created enough demand for him to do so. Now the Nutty Bar is getting new chains across the country.

Talk about a fast-growing business! I wonder if they’ll be getting commercial deals and placing ads on the trees. Let’s hope they don’t go out of business during the pandemic.

He’s at least sorted out the patents already. The Nutty Bar is now a trademark of Michael Dutko, all rights and nuts reserved.

You could invest in a Nutty Bar chain for just $175 to $200, which is what he plans to charge for them. That seems like a fair price, in my honest opinion. You might not make the profit back in cash, but I’m sure the congregations of squirrels having a great time will be worth it.
