It is impossible to count how many unfortunate puppies are abandoned every day in the world and this fact is simply heartbreaking. Luckily, there are a lot of kind-hearted people who spend a whole day trying to give these animals what they deserve. Today’s story will serve as an example of how people continue to give hope to abandoned animals.
Hope for Paws received a call for a rescue mission.
One day, Hope for Paws received an urgent call from the staff from Lucky Puppy Rescue, a non-profit rescue organization based in California. They told HFP that a bunch of orphaned puppies were seen living on the side of the road, hiding in the bushes.
The puppies had been trying to fend for themselves as their mother had been missing on the street for over two weeks. The HFP staff immediately went to the neighborhood to check out the puppies. The staff was told that the pups were fed by a woman living there.
Whenever people come close, the pups run to hide.
HFP scoured the area and one by one, and they noticed that the pups had been living in such a bad environment. Glass shards and rusty objects were just lying around. One by one, the puppies would come out to check if there is food on the pavement.
However, as they saw the man walk in front of them, they would just run back to the bushes. Eldad, Hope for Paws’ founder, placed a camera on the ground to track their movements, and as he left, the curious puppies came out to play with it.
Getting them out was not easy.
The rescue team made preparations for the operation and they worked on putting a fence in the area. After the fence was built, they then went and tried to secure the puppies who were all cooped up in the bushes. The team tried to lure them with food, and as the pups seemed to want it, they are hesitant to go after it.
They were able to grab one of the dogs they named Luna Sky with their catchpole and the team calmed the scared pup immediately before attempting to catch another one. The next pups who were extracted were Baby Sunset, Sunny Boy, River, and finally, the puppy who was deep in the roots and vines, Lightning.
The puppies were then taken to their headquarters.
The hard part was done but their job was not close to being over. HFP and the Lucky Puppy Rescue went to get the puppies medical check-ups and also a fresh, warm bath. The two lonely weeks must have been so hard for these orphaned puppies, especially without their mom to take care of them.
However, they were really lucky that these people were ready to help them. Two days after the rescue, the puppies who were once afraid of anything were already playing with the other puppies in the HFP shelter. HFP also had to transfer the pups to the Lucky Puppy Rescue organization.
Hope is not lost for both pups and humanity.
We should be thankful that there are still people like them who give second chances to these animal lives. If it weren’t for them, more dogs would have died on the side of the street, without having a good home and a well-deserved life. Thanks to Hope For Paws for continuing to extend their hands to the paws in need.
