Bowie was found in a horrible condition.

It would be hard not to cry looking at this sweet doggo when he was first rescued.

One of the adopters at the Witchita Animal Action League found him in the trash.

“She heard something in the dumpster and she looked inside and found Bowie locked in a wire kennel, thrown away in the dumpster like trash,” Witchita Animal Action League’s founder Sarah Coffman told The Dodo.

Poor Bowie was literally skin, bones, and a sweet, sweet face.

As soon as Bowie realized he was in the hands of people who cared for him and wanted to help him, he was able to relax.

“He instantly just dropped his head and came and climbed into my lap. And I was like, ‘We are going to do everything we can di give this dog the absolute best life because he deserves it,'” Sarah said.

Bowie was in such a bad condition that he needed to be hospitalized for a week so that he could have 24-hour around-the-clock care.

He was then taken in by Witchita Animal Action League’s medical fosters where he spent about two weeks.

He got stronger during that time and put on some weight.

He was fed from slow feeders because he started to gobble up his food so fast.

Because of his fragile condition, his fosters were a little reluctant to give to Bowie to his new family Connie and Matt.

But once they saw that Connie and Matt’s door had a sign that said “Welcome Bowie” they knew this was the perfect forever home for him.

Connie said she was taken aback by Bowie’s sweet eyes when she first saw him.

“I sent Matt a text and I was like, ‘Can we keep him?’ And Matt said, ‘I can’t believe it took you two days to ask!'”

Connie and Max helped Bowie to become a dog again.

They started out by bringing him on 20-yard walks.

They did that for a few weeks and then started walking him around the block.

“When he first started running and realized he could run, it was kind of like a baby learning how to walk. And the more he does it, the more he enjoys it,” Connie said.

Now Bowie runs like the wind all the time.

“He’s like the Energizer Bunny, honestly. He runs like a racehorse. He runs zoomies day and night, hot, cold. He doesn’t care,” Connie said.

There is one thing that Bowie loves more than running.

And that’s ice cream!

He loves heading down to Andy’s Frozen Custard for a pup cone.

He gobbles those pup cones right up!

So, mom and dad take him there every single weekend.

Bowie has been completely transformed ever since he was rescued and found a forever home.

“He held his head so low before and now he stands tall and proud. He can be a dog again and that’s really all he wanted the chance to do,” said Connie.

It’s hard to believe that someone could carelessly dump an adorable pup like this in the trash but thanks to his new family, he has another chance at life.
