They just showed up at Matt and Irene’s house one day. Where did they come from?

Matt and Irene found two abandoned dogs by their fence and went closer to investigate. One of the dogs saw them, got scared, and ran off.

The other dog stayed behind because they later found out that she was blind and didn’t see them coming.

Matt and Irene are seasoned dog rescuers so it was instinct that told them to bring the dog inside the house.

They were worried because they had never taken care of a blind dog before. How can they make sure that she was going to be okay with them?

But their years of dog rescue and dog parenting experience kicked in and they still knew what to do.

They had a special corner in the room for her. Matt would carry her outside the bedroom and into the yard so she could run around in open space.

He was always nearby, though, checking on her if she might trip or fall over something.

That bond made her feel comfortable and unworried.

Her name is Lilly.

Within two to three weeks, Lilly was becoming more comfortable and confident in the house. She was starting to feel more at home.

One of the signs Matt and Irene knew she was getting better was her tail.

As the weeks went by, it went up a little more every day until it was wagging so much when she hears Matt and Irene.

Ten days after Lilly arrived at their home, their neighbor told them that there was a dog in their barn. What dog?

When they went to the barn, they saw Mira in the center. Mira saw them, too, and took off before they could reach her.

She was the same dog that ran off when they found Lilly.

They made a plan to capture Mira and it worked! But instead of bringing Mira immediately to the house, they kept her there so she could warm up to them first.

Pretty soon, Mira was sitting next to Irene and letting them feed her.

Eventually, they brought Lilly with them to make Mira more comfortable.

When Mira saw Lilly, she was all over Lilly. The next day, Lilly was all over Mira.

They were so happy to be reunited again. They do not want to be separated ever again. Because they were together again, they became their true selves once again.

Matt and Irene didn’t want them to be apart ever again.

That’s why they’ve been trying to find them a home that will take both of them. They only want the best home for Lilly and Mira.

Matt and Irene have actually set requirements that may seem very strict, but that’s what these two dogs need.

“Sweet Lilly and Mira are looking for their FOREVER HOME! They are Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix, about 1 year young and unfortunately, Lilly is visually impaired. (She can see shapes/shadows),” the post explained. “What do they need: A family who can provide a calm environment, without children, with 1 or 2 other dogs max, with a backyard that is fenced in, where they won’t be home alone for more than 4 hours per day, who understand that Lilly has special needs, who understands that Lilly will need eye drops for the rest of her life, with a slight chance of needing eye-removing surgery in the future. What the family will get in return: Two sweet girls who are UTD, housebroken and give lots of LOVE and can’t stop smiling!!!”

Cheers to finding their forever family soon!
