Losing a pet is never easy.
Pets are more than just animals living in our homes. They fill the role of a friend, companion, listener, cuddler, and playmate. Unfortunately, we all know what it feels like to lose a pet, whether its to old age or something else. It often comes with genuine pain that causes your heart to hurt.
Steve Creig was in one of those heartbreak moments.
Steve was a dog owner and was just entering into a really difficult time. One of his dogs had passed, and his heart was hurting. We all respond to pain differently. For some, they need time and space to let their heart heal. For others, it takes activity, doing something with their hands while they heal. Regardless of how you heal, it is important that we do.
Steve decided that he was going to do something with the hurt in his heart.
Instead of sitting around and wallowing, Steve got an idea. Getting in his car, he headed to his nearest animal shelter with a plan. Becoming resolute in his heart, he walked in and went up to the front desk.
Asking for the dog that nobody wanted, Steve was shocked to see what was brought out.

The shelter brought out a senior Chihuahua that was 12-years-old. The dog had four bad knees, a heart murmur, and was very old. Steve looked at the dog, Eeyore, and knew what he had to do. He adopted the dog on the spot!
The adoption seemed to be the first domino in the line.

“So (I adopted) a 12-year-old Chihuahua (named Eeyore) with a heart murmur and four bad knees, and I brought him home, and that was just the beginning of all the animals,” – The Dodo
Steve was raised around lots of other animals and loved them. His parents loved pets and that seems to have rubbed on of Steve. After Eeyore, he kept adopting animals in need.
Adopting senior dogs is a passion of his.

Senior dogs often have incredibly difficult lives where nobody cares much about them. Steve makes it his life’s work to care for them. With nine old dogs adopted and more to come, it seems like he is doing a great job!

Steve’s house is filled with dogs… but that’s not all! He also has adopted a rabbit, chicken, and funny enough, a pig!
“I’m upfront about all the dogs when guests come to the house. But I keep the pig secret for an element of surprise,” he posted.
Imagine going to a friend’s house and finding a pig sitting on the couch! That is one wild life.

They all live inside his house, requiring him to start his day at 5 am.

Many of the animals have special diets that require specific eating schedules. Different animals also require different foods, so much of his day is spent caring for the animals in need. Giving them medicine, he heads off to work only to come back for lunch. After coming home for dinner, he walks them, which sometimes requires a cart to pull them in! What a sight that must be coming down the road.
