Felines like exploring, and they will squeeze themselves into any space or box that will fit them. Most of the time, it’s downright adorable. But once in a while, they get themselves into some sticky situations. It’s not rare to hear stories of cats seeking warmth in car engines or dirty exhaust pipes, but this time it was a little different. Yes, an exhaust pipe was involved, however, these kitties weren’t trapped in a car— they were stuck in a restaurant…

Two years ago, Animal Aid Unlimited, one of the busiest shelters in India, posted a stunning rescue story to their YouTube channel. The video shows the shelter’s dedicated team saving a litter of kittens from a restaurant exhaust pipe. Following the rescue and some tender loving care, we also get to see the babies’ stunning transformation.

In the video, rescuers explain they were informed of a litter of kittens trapped in a restaurant’s exhaust pipe. The babies were left there by their mama and had been crying for the past 2 days.

Rescuers weren’t able to reach the newborn kittens. The only way to save them would be to cut a hole right through the pipe. In the video, you see a man slicing a square flap into the thin metal, before peeling it back like a tiny door.

Then, after the man sticks his arms into the opening, he starts pulling kitten after kitten out.

The four kittens— three ginger babies and an adorable tabby— were in a pretty bad state. Two of them were hypothermic and actually deemed to be in critical condition. It was uncertain if they would see it through.

Workers at Animal Aid Unlimited refused to give up on the brave little fluffs though, and provided them with round-the-clock care. Soon, with the rescuers’ love and affection, the kittens started to grow strong.

Towards the end of the video, you get to see the adorable litter clowning around and having fun. The fluffy batch seem like completely different cats than the ones that were pulled out of the restaurant’s dingy pipe.
