When a barn owner was called by authorities and told that their barn was on fire not so long ago, they rushed to the stable worried about the 39 horses that lived there.
When the barn owner arrived at the burning barn, it was obvious that things were not going very well. There were flames coming out of almost every spot in the barn, and there was no horse around, so they started fearing for the worst.
As much as the firefighters tried to take the horses out, it seems that they had been disoriented by the smoke and the flames, while they were also confused and refused to leave their stalls, which they considered to be their safe place.
In a video that has been shared by ViralHog, the owner of one of the horses can be heard panting as she approaches the burning barn.
“The barn owner and others also began opening stall doors to release the 39 horses trapped in the barn. Some ran down the side barn and congregated in front of the stall where my 27-year-old Paint horse, Kobeejo, lived,” she explained.
It seems that one hero horse tried to push the other horses towards the arena which was not on fire at the time, before he walked out of his stall to lead them to safety.
The whole thing was captured on a surveillance camera, and the horse can be clearly seen helping the other horses escape the burning stalls.
“This was caught by my stall security camera, which was destroyed in the fire. Upon release, Kobeejo led a group of horses out of the barn to safety. All 39 horses made it out alive and well,” the owner of the horse added.
The video has amassed more than 3.5k views and internet users were relieved that no horse suffered any injuries during the incident.
But the hero horse helping his fellow equines is not really something one wouldn’t expect to see. In fact, horses are known to be one of the most intelligent animals on earth.
On The Plaid Horse website, they explain:
“[Horses can] learn quickly and remember things for a long time. They can also solve problems and figure out how to get what they want. For example, a horse may know how to open a gate in order to get out of a pen or field.”
Knowing that, it does not come as a surprise that a horse managed to find a way to help other horses run away from danger.
A few years ago, a 14-year-old horse saved his caretaker from a coyote attack, while only four years back, a horse revived his stablemate moments before her being put down because of severe abdominal pain.
You see, horses are smarter than one can even imagine and they can provide solutions for themselves and the ones they care for in times of need.
