Though they’re spikey on the outside, the face of a hedgehog is so ridiculously adorable that you just really want to cuddle them.
It’s probably not a good idea in reality.
But we still want to anyway. Hedgehogs have about 3,000 to 5,000 quills on their backs which they use to protect themselves from predators.
They will flip their quills in an upright position to make a criss-cross pattern when they feel threatened.
They will also ball up making it hard for predators to get to their soft middles.
Hedgehogs, however, aren’t really considered dangerous to humans. Their quills aren’t likely to draw blood.
So, when one man stumbled across a hedgehog in distress, he didn’t hesitate to pick it up and help it.
He spotted the creature in the middle of a muddy road while he was driving.
The poor creature was quills down and belly up in the mud. He also seemed to have something stuck on his hand.
The man stopped his car and got out while filming. The man can be heard laughing at the poor creature who was unable to free himself.
“What happened to you? Stuck in mud!” he says. “I will get you out. Wait, do not bite me!”
He touches his hand which appears to have something stuck to it. The little hedgehog begins to wiggle around and wave his hands wildly.
The man then gently pulls the creature by one of its hands.
But he was stuck real good in that mud.
So, the man takes the hedgehog by both his tiny paws and tries to wiggle him out.
He finally pulls the hedgehog free from the mud. He seems astonished by the hole the hedgehog left in the mud.
But the poor little guy didn’t seem to be doing so well.
He was curled up in a ball and not moving much. The man moved him back on his feet.
The hedgehog started to move but the mud was really heavy on him.
So the man decided to help further and give him a shower with a hose.
“Wait, let me wash you. You became [adobe], too much mud,” the man said.
He was able to get all that heavy caked-off mud from the hedgehog who stood perfectly still the home time.
It seemed like he liked it and was happy to get all that weight off of him.
He even turned so the man could get everything off. When he was done with his shower, the man picked him up and brought him over onto a grassy area where the hedgehog could scamper off and be free.
“Thank God I noticed you and focused on the road or you would have been in a different situation,” the man said.
