There is a chance that a newly born dog could have psychical challenges. They could either be born a runt or even be born with missing body parts. It would be hard for them to live well, and that is why most of the time, the mother neglects it.

This is also heartbreaking for every pet owner. If they somehow got into the kind of situation where their pet produced a physically challenged offspring, they would be forced to decide between hard choices, especially when euthanizing it is one of the options.

Rescuers found this poor pup and had to do decide what to do with him.

Lou Robinson and her husband Mark Bowlin are animal rescuers and the founders of a group called Warriors Educate About Rescue based in Houston, Texas. They got used to reaching out their hands to abandoned animals and giving them a loving home. Despite both of them have tons of experience as rescuers, the couple was faced with a new dilemma.

One day, they encountered a White Boxer pup with congenital defects. The puppy was born with two poorly developed front legs, and it has been hard for the pup to live with the rest of the litter. Even though the mother did not reject him, his siblings would push him away during feeding time. That is when the couple stepped up.

Given a dilemma, these rescuers decided to give the pup another chance at life.

They took the four-hour-old pup to the veterinary hospital to ask for help. However, the veterinarian broke the heartbreaking news that euthanizing the pup would probably be the best choice. But even after hearing that, Lou decided she wanted to try adopting the pup and nursing him back to health.

The couple refused to let the poor puppy die and decided to just take him in.

The couple named the puppy Nubby, and they provided him with a new home.

Robinson and her husband took the responsibility of taking care of Nubby. The couple researched the best way to take care of the two-legged pup and tried to nurse it to health. However, it was not all rainbows and butterflies for Nubby and his new owners.

They experienced rough patches along the way as they took care of Nubby. When the pup was one-month-old, Robinson noticed that Nubby stopped pooping and started sneezing. The couple was worried so they took Nubby to an X-ray.

The results told them that the puppy was suffering from an abnormality in his esophagus. They confined Nubby in an incubator and gave him antibiotics, hoping that it would solve the problem.

Three years later, Nubby still happily lives with his human companions.

The couple did what they can to help Nubby, and they were both relieved that the puppy showed resilience and fought hard to beat the sickness. Now, Nubby grew up to be a strong and healthy dog. You can see Nubby actively play with other dogs as Robinson posts daily update about Nubby’s life on the internet. A lot of people showed their love and appreciation to the rescuers and the dog.

It is inspiring to see both Nubby’s fighting spirit and Robinson’s compassion and perseverance to the animals. Let us just hope that their values would encourage other people to act and care for animals even if they show differences.
