Rescue shelters are amazing places. Thanks to the selfless volunteers and those who donate money to help keep the centers open, animals who otherwise would have lived their lives on the streets or at the hands of dangerous owners can have a safe space to live.

However, although they’re safe places that make sure animals have warmth, food, and other basic needs, no animal deserves to live at a shelter for life. Each and every animal should be able to experience the love and care provided by their owners in a loving home.

With this thought in mind, nothing makes us happier than when we read about a successful adoption story, and we thought we’d share this adorable video with you to brighten up your day.

Meet Tito, a precious rescue dog who had spent nine years of his life living in a rescue shelter in Italy. After spending so long in the shelter, the little guy probably thought that this was going to be his home for life. Nine years is a long time, and Tito probably became used to the routine he had whilst in the shelter.

However, a shelter can’t compare to living in a real home. At the shelter, Tito was probably locked up in a cage for most of the day, and he ewould have to share the attention of the volunteers with all of the other dogs. He needed somebody who would call him their own.

Amazingly, after nine years in the shelter, Tito was finally in luck — somebody wanted to adopt him! The little guy’s patience had paid off and he was about to experience the security of a loving home for the first time in his life.

Of course, this was very big news for Tito, and on the day he was due to move out, the shelter volunteers decided to film the little guy to show everybody just how happy he was about it.

The video, which was originally posted onto YouTube, shows the excitable little pup racing around the shelter and barking. He has an adorably big grin on his face and it looks as if all his Christmases have come at once! It’s truly so precious to watch.

Tito is so excited about the prospect of finally being rescued that he simply cannot keep still. We can hear other dogs barking in the video, and we’re certain that they can sense Tito’s excitement.

After nine years at the shelter, it’s likely that the patient pup has made a lot of friends there. They are probably saying: “Goodbye Tito, we will miss you lots, but you deserve a loving home more than anyone!”

There is another dog who has been let out with Tito, and although we aren’t told who he is, we’d like to think that it’s one of Tito’s best friends at the shelter, saying goodbye for the last time. Is someone cutting onions around here?

Watch the adorable video of Tito below, but make sure you have a few tissues handy!
