Some professions require a lot of heart and a lot of grit.

They aren’t for the faint of heart.

Being a firefighter is one such profession.

In a heartwarming display of quick thinking and teamwork, the Franklinville Volunteer Fire Company (FVFC) in New Jersey, along with the Franklin Township Police Department, came to the rescue of a dog in a peculiar predicament.

The dog, named Daisy, found herself in a tight spot – literally – with her head stuck in the rim of a tire at her home.

The FVFC shared the story on Facebook, complete with a photo that showed Daisy’s head poking through the center of a large Firestone tire.

The image captured the urgency of the situation, with emergency crews diligently working to free the distressed canine.

Initially, the rescue team tried to release Daisy using soap and water, but their efforts were in vain.

The breakthrough came when one of the FVFC lieutenants decided to use his personal plasma cutter, an innovative approach that proved to be the key to Daisy’s freedom.

A gripping video of the rescue, taken by the police, was also shared by the FVFC.

It showed the emergency crew members in a garage, meticulously working around Daisy, who was patiently waiting for her release.

The rescuers took extra care to ensure Daisy’s comfort and safety.

They placed two blankets around her neck, both as a buffer against the cutting process and to provide a sense of security.

The plasma cutter was then used to carefully cut a piece out of the top of the tire, with sparks flying in a dramatic display of the rescue operation.

Midway through the video, a thoughtful crew member suggested putting a collar and leash on Daisy.

This was a precautionary measure in case she decided to bolt once freed.

The team continued to cut through the rim of the tire, working diligently until there was enough space to safely extract Daisy’s head.

The moment of relief came when one of the team members gently backed Daisy out of the tire, wrapping her in blankets.

Daisy, finally free, wriggled out of the blankets and stretched her legs, a sign of her gratitude and relief, while someone held onto her leash.

In a follow-up post, the FVFC shared a photo of the tire post-rescue, showing the extent of the cutting with about a quarter of the top of the rim missing.

The post also brought good news: Daisy was unharmed and doing well after her ordeal.

The FVFC proudly stated, “This is the dedication and commitment you can expect from the FVFC each time we respond to a call. We are grateful to everyone who responded today to help Daisy.”
