Farmer puts baby donkey to sleep by singing 'What The World Needs Now Is Love'
The cuteness is absolutely off the charts!

By now, you’ve probably sung, or heard someone sing, a lullaby to a baby. Something about the melody of a lullaby just works magic for a young mind, and a few notes will send them drifting off in no time.

Music is just that good to fall asleep to. Humans aren’t the only ones it works on, as we’re about to see. No, I’m not talking about a mere puppy or a cat. Being about the size of a really large dog, a Donkey foal isn’t the easiest thing to cradle in your arms.

But a determined person could probably manage, like Ohio resident Dean Fagan.

He’s cradling it like one of his own, and the donkey foal clearly doesn’t mind. This donkey came into their care when it was just 2 days old.

Filming is his wife, Dawn Fagan. Maybe she knew what people wouldn’t believe her husband sang to a baby Donkey unless she filmed and uploaded it. Other people had to see to believe, even if the spectacle might attract a few jackasses.

In fact, the donkey has a name. She’s Ivy, and she was 10 days old at the time this was recorded.

Ivy was literally a newborn, just like week old babies after being brought home from the hospital.

And most of the stuff going on in the world might be too much for a newborn donkey to understand. So I’m sure the song choice is no coincidence.

Jackie DeShannon sung those lyrics in the 1960’s, and who would’ve thought that those words would make it to the ears of a donkey foal 55 years later. With those big old donkey ears, Ivy should hear the words loud and clear.

Ivy is as comfy as any newborn in Dean’s arms. He’s no Jackie DeShannon for sure, but that doesn’t make any difference to Ivy. All she cares about now is milk, sleep and having someone to look after her.

And any caretaker who sings to her is bound to take good care of her.

Although you’re probably wondering what set of circumstances led to this affectionate treatment of a donkey foal. The answer is that the Fagans are experienced donkey caretakers, running a sanctuary called Jackass Junction.

Ivy is guaranteed some quality tender loving care, and these personal lullabies are just the start. Dawn even tells a source that Ivy is very fond of being sung to. I don’t know many donkeys myself, but I’m sure Ivy would be my favorite now.

Ivy isn’t the first donkey to find their way into the Fagan’s care.

Before Ivy, the Fagans rescued a Donkey and named him Mr. Donker Donks. An absolutely splendid name for any donkey, if you ask me. In fact, the Fagans were clearly proud enough of the name’s cleverness that they’ve made it their Instagram handle.

With this much love for donkeys, Ivy, Mr. Donker Donks and any donkeys that find themselves in this sanctuary should never have to worry about anything. The Fagans prove that besides dog people and cat people, Donkey people are also a thing.

To be totally fair, I’m sure donkey lovers aren’t too dissimilar from the more popular horse lovers.
