If you see Nellie, you’ll see how adorable she is.
The cocker spaniel pup is white with some cute markings down the half of her body, an adorable pink nose, and two different colored eyes.
Like most puppies, she is playful, sweet, and curious.
You’d love to watch her for hours to see what she’s up to and you’ll never guess she’s blind and deaf.
That’s right, little Nellie was born blind and deaf, and this is where her story begins.
According to an Instagram post by dashboard_doggos last February 27, 2023, Nellie and her sibling, a sister, were dumped by a breeder because of their genetic condition.
Both puppies were born deaf and blind. Their breeder dumped them without remorse.
This is when Secondhand Hounds, a foster-based rescue, was called.
A foster-based rescue means that they instantly place every rescued dog into a foster home.
They considered Nellie as a Fighter Fund Foster. This means she will need special care and vetting.
Both puppies found amazing foster parents.
When her foster mom saw Nellie, she instantly fell in love.
She also noticed how they have the same ‘beauty mark’ under their noses.
At such a young age, being blind and deaf, you’d think that Nellie would be scared of the world.
Her foster parents were scared for her too, but then the vet told them that since she was born this way, she thinks she was normal.
That’s when they realized that Nellie could be as normal as any dog could be.
When she first came into their home, Lily, their sweet hospice foster came to her and became protective of her.
Even if all the other dogs and pets would sniff her, she didn’t feel scared, she felt at home.
Soon, she memorized every part of their house.
This means Nellie could now run full speed, find her bed, food bowl, and even play outside.
She loves rummaging and discovering ‘treasures’ left behind by the dogs of the people who once lived there.
She knows where you are and where to go. She even knows where to find her playmates.
They all know she has a super nose!
Everyone who meets her really sees how normal she is.
Her foster parents also love how ‘sneaky’ she is. Well, at least, she thinks so.
Nellie loves to bring random stuff inside the home and thinks no one sees her.
She’s hilarious!
When she’s not digging and being naughty, she would lie down and ask her foster parents to cuddle her.
She absolutely loves being held.
Nellie would sleep comfortably when you begin caressing her or just being by her side. Her foster dad remembers how Nellie greets people that she meets.
The puppy would place her mouth next to yours and just stay there for a while.
It’s like she’s smelling you, getting familiar with your scent, and at the same time, giving you so kisses as a way of greeting.
Nellie’s foster parents posted that they are looking for a forever home, but everyone seems to think that this case is a foster failure.
Many comments talked about how Nellie has settled in with the couple and has treated them as her forever fur-parents.
The way she snuggles with them and the level of trust that Nellie has in them is a match made in heaven.
In one post, they posted an adorable video of Nellie getting excited as her foster dad gets home, with a caption:
“Go on, tell me she’s never leaving 🫣”
What do you think? Will this be a foster fail?
