What would you do if while driving on a highway, you suddenly saw a small kitten in the middle of the road? Let’s say you were able to avoid hitting it, what would be your next step?
Would you stop at the side and try to save it on time, endangering your own life in the process, or would just continue driving?
Well, our story today will answer this question for you! Two years ago a biker, who was later identified as “Quentin” by some news sources, was riding his motorbike near Mons, in Belgium. So, while he was riding, he spotted a kitten in the middle of the highway.
Everything was caught by his headcam, so we can actually see the whole incident play out!
Quentin was able to swerve on time and not hit the poor kitten, he actually exclaimed while passing by it, “NO”, expressing his distraught of seeing the little animal, vulnerable in the middle of the road.
Quickly he stopped at the side of the road and started making his way back where the kitten was, immobilized by fear. As you can see in the recording, Quentin wasn’t the only one that had noticed the kitten, another car had stopped as well, with its driver having the same exact reaction to Quentin’s.
They both run to save the kitten!
You can see how desperate they are as they see another car coming down the road fast, going straight to where the poor animal was. They both start shouting and gesturing towards the coming car, in order to stop it on time.
Fortunately, the car’s driver sees them and he slows down quickly, stopping in his turn by the side of the road. Quentin quickly approaches the little kitten and full of care takes it in his gloved hands while saying, “Viens ici toi!”, which in French means, “come here you”.
It’s funny if you notice the kitten’s expression, it doesn’t seem to realize how close to death it came.
The driver asks Quentin what should they do next and Quentin honestly answers that he doesn’t really know what to do with their new friend.
Quentin tells the driver that he would love to take it, but unfortunately, he’s allergic but at the same time he cannot just leave it there. The driver seems also quite troubled like he wants to help but he’s not sure how.
In the end, the man decides to take the little kitten with him which makes Quentin happy as their new friend will be at last safe!
Just look at this beautiful animal’s eyes! This little creature is just so adorable and you can discern how “unsure” it is by what is happening around it. At one moment, it was just lounging in the middle of the road and at the next, it was saved by two strangers.
Let’s hope that the kitten found a warm and loving home at last, away from dangerous and cold roads. Quentin and the other unknown man are definitely “heroes” as without considering the danger, they stopped to save another living being.
Hopefully, more people will follow their example and feel inclined to help, as according to Psychology Today more than one million animals die every year on the roads!
