It is heartbreaking to see dogs abandoned.
Whether it’s in a dark and narrow alley or out in the streets, dogs don’t deserve such treatment. So when this couple and their Yorkie saw one, they jumped right in and helped out.
Angie and Brian were driving their camper van on the highway when they saw a dog in the median.
Their tiny Yorkie, Remmington, aka Remi, cried out to the dog. He was whimpering and somehow knew that the dog needed help. The poor dog looked scared and confused by all the cars passing by.
Brian got out of the car and walked to the median. He tried to get the dog out of danger, but it was scared and intimidated by him. He threw some treats one at a time so the dog would walk to him.
Another car stopped and tried to help them – which was both good and bad.
Bad because the dog was more scared than before this other car arrived. Good because the dog moved farther from that new guy and closer to Brian.
They finally got the dog to get in the van. What amazed the couple was how gentle this big dog was and how little Remi behaved throughout the ride.
Some backstory: Remi was never comfortable with other dogs.
He would usually bark or growl at them and never stay put or keep quiet. But this time, he was sitting quietly beside Angie and looking at the big dog they named Bubbles.
They gave him a bath when they reached their family farm, and he was able to have his much-needed rest. But how did Remi react to all of this?
Remi showed Bubbles who is the “man” in the house!
He played well along with Bubbles but gave a little growl to this big dude to assert his dominance. Angie was surprised at how this big dog bowed down to the little Yorkie. Since then, the two played along so well and knew their boundaries.
Bubbles, the bigger dog, was always gentle when playing with Remi, while the little Yorkie doubled his energy to keep up with Bubbles. Angie said, “It was like he was a puppy again.”
However, something still bothered Angie and Brian.
They knew that there was a chance Bubbles was someone else’s dog. If that was the case, they wanted to return him home. As dog owners, they knew it would be heartbreaking for his fur parents if they lost him.
They posted listings to 20 different shelters, but nobody came up or contacted them to claim Bubbles. It was clear to the couple that Bubbles was abandoned, and it’d make perfect sense that they just keep him in their home.
Bubbles had always felt at home since they rescued him.
He would snuggle with Brian or Angie and play well with Remi. Unfortunately, he was abandoned in the middle of the highway, but he gladly found his way home.
“I feel like he helped complete our family. He’s brought so much happiness to our lives. We feel like the lucky ones that we are blessed to find and be able to give a happy home to bubbles,” Brian and Angie told The Dodo.
We’re so glad Bubbles found such a wonderful home. Check out a video of his rescue below!
