With November coming up, winter is fast approaching. And, as we all know, with winter comes the snow. Some people cannot get enough snow— whether it be sliding with the kids, making giant snowmen or simply admiring the newfound beauty of the world; they’re ready to get in on the action with only a moment’s notice.
Others? Well, others aren’t so keen.
I, for one, cannot stand the snow. You think as a Canadian I’d be used to it by now— but still, I’d take the summer heat over freezing ice banks any day— and videos like this one make me confident I’m not alone.
In this adorable video, you see a little Yorkie getting blindsided by the sight of fluffy powder at the front door— and her reaction? Completely relatable.
At the beginning of the video, you see Lulu the Yorkie clad in a blue sweater and wagging her tail excitedly. She’s standing at the front door with her owner, who asks:
“Go outside, Lulu? You ready?”
Like most dogs, the O-word is enough to send Lulu’s tail into overdrive. She is ready for this adventure. She cannot wait to feel the sun on her skin. Today will be her day— and nothing will stop her… Except for snow, that is.
Since being uploaded to Rumble by the ViralHog channel, the video has been viewed nearly 800,000 times— and it’s easy to see why. You’ll immediately bust out laughing when you see how quickly the excited pup changes her plans. In the caption, her owner foreshadows:
“I recorded my dog as I let her out the morning after a snowstorm, knowing how fussy she tends to be.”
“She didn’t seem to like it very much.”
As Lulu waits for her owner to open the door, she can’t control her excitement. Her toes tap and bounce on the linoleum floor, the anxiousness evident in her movements. Then finally, her owner indulges her.
When Lulu’s owner opens the door, she races forward before noticing snow on the ground.
“What is this?” she seems to be wondering, observing it for a moment. Then quicker than you can say, “Not today, Satan,” Lulu abandons all hopes for playtime— making an exaggerated U-turn and heading right back inside.
Nope, nope, nope.
Lulu’s reaction is pretty common for Yorkies, says My Little Yorkie World. Yorkies weren’t built for the cold so naturally, they resist it. Still, there are a few tricks if you and your pup live in a colder climate.
Firstly, never give up on daily walks even if your dog seems resistant. If you’re scared of their feet getting cold, fleece booties are an amazing option. Lastly, I think it goes without saying, that treats also help.
So, is your dog as particular as Lulu when it comes to winter? Do they dread the sight of cold powder, or do they dash forward with unmet excitement? Be sure to let us know in the comments.
