When humans venture into wild places, we can never expect what will happen. It seems like bumps with nature are usually like that. No matter how prepared we are, we are surprised by the things mother nature shows us.
Wildlife is one of the trickiest things to watch.
Outside the boundaries of a city, wildlife often abounds right under our noses. Animals are often elusive and unwilling to be seen! Humans don’t have a great track record of treating most animals all that kindly, either, so we can’t blame the animals.
Depending on where you grew up, you might be more or less familiar with some of the earth’s wildest creatures.
Even for people who are trained to find them, animals are pretty incredible at hiding! Since we struggle to find them on demand, humans have created little areas to see animals on our own terms. The zoo!
While zoos are incredible, they often aren’t the best for the animals.
Depending on the location and country, zoos can be rough places for animals to live. They are often mistreated or not given the things that they need to thrive (space, ability to hunt, etc.) That’s what makes the Olympic Game Farm so incredible!
At the Olympic Game Farm, animals are kept in a natural environment built around its own region.
The cool part is that you can drive through the park and see the animals engaging in their own habitat! They can roam around the park at their leisure; only this time, humans can see them.
When humans and animals interact, some incredible things often happen.
One of the coolest animals in the park is the brown bear, or grizzly, to some. Grizzlies are MASSIVE animals but aren’t just all brawn! They are also some of the most intelligent animals on the planet. Despite their media portrayal, they are also quite timid when it comes to humans. They would usually prefer to avoid us altogether.
That’s what makes this video so wild!
Since bears and humans don’t usually mix, this video is even crazier! One woman was driving through the farm when she saw the bear near one of the gates. While that would terrify most people, they slowed down a bit to see the bear better.
The bear was wandering around a grassy field, minding his own business when the humans pulled up.
Seeing the bear, the brave woman rolled down her window and decided to wave to it. Sticking her hand out, she gave a quick wave at the massive creature passively watching her. What the bear did next was crazy.
After she waved at the bear, the bear waved right back!
Sitting up on his hind legs and making a greeting noise, the grizzly waved right back at the woman! This wasn’t some happenstance movement that looked a bit like waving, either. The bear was well and truly waving at her!
Bears are always learning and don’t mind sharing space.
Since resources are often localized for bears in the wild (salmon streams, berry bushes), they can become accustomed to other creatures around them. This bear seems to have gotten used to humans and decided to learn their strange customs!
