A caring wife is a wonderful thing! They often know just the thing to do when their husband is upset or disheartened. One woman knew what to do when her husband was going through a difficult time when their dog passed.
One man was heartbroken after his dog passed.
The longer you have with your pet, the harder it can be when they pass. One man was going through a tough time when he had to say goodbye to his pug of 11 years. After spending more than a decade together, it isn’t easy to let go. Dogs are so much more than animals to their humans. We feed them and take care of them, yes, but they are our companions and friends.
When Shelley James noticed her husband was upset, she took matters into her own hands.
Knowing that her husband was heartbroken after their pug passed, Shelley decided she was going to do something about it. While at work one day, she got a text from a friend asking if they would want a dog that needed to be adopted. Realizing this was an incredible opportunity, she decided to go for it.
While we don’t know how long ago their dog passed, it seems that they had a chance to grieve.
An important part of having a dog pass is the grieving process. While it can sometimes feel better to run out and get another dog ASAP, allowing yourself to grieve and miss your old friend can be healthy, too.
With their hearts healed and a potential puppy in hand, Shelley decided to film what happened next.
Pulling up to their house in her car, Shelley started filming a moment that the two could look back on for years. We get our first look at the little pug almost right away in the video. Pugs are always incredibly cute and goofy. This one was light tan with that classic smooshed face that people love so much.
Walking up to their door, it was almost time for the big reveal!
Going onto the porch and opening the back door, Shelley walked into the house and turned the corner. Sitting on a chair working, her husband looks up from his computer when wife and pup walk in.
“Wait, what is that!!!”
Once he notices what his wife has in her hands, the entire scene gets a bit happier! Letting his emotion show through his voice, he is obviously surprised that there is a small dog in front of him. His wife walks over and lets him hold the little dog. He can’t help but let how happy he is show all over his face. There are few things that holding a warm, squirmy, puppy can’t heal.
After hundreds of kisses and a wagging tail, you can see that this pug has found a loving home.
Finding out that his wife planned the whole thing, the man was shocked by the surprise. While the pain of a friend passing will never disappear completely, that relationship will live on through this pug and his new family.
