She was told to give up since it was natural selection.

Molly refused to listen to her naysayers, and now, she has given a home to a dog that deserves it.

One day, Molly found a stranded dog on the side of the highway in Alabama. Despite all logic and reason when it comes to approaching strange dogs, she pulled over and crossed the busy road to bring the dog to her car.

While they were walking to her car, the dog thanked Molly with lots of dog kisses on her face.

The dog was not in good shape, and he had a too-tight collar on him. The people she talked to at the animal control office and the animal shelter all believed he was intentionally abandoned in the same area.

“I looked him in the eye and I was like, ‘I promise you I will get you out of here and I promise I’m gonna keep you safe,'” Molly told the dog.

Adopting the dog, who she eventually named Polo, was not an easy process.

It took a whole month since she lived in Massachusetts and the dog was under the care of animal control and an animal shelter in Alabama.

It broke Molly’s heart during the process because people around her kept saying she shouldn’t adopt the dog.

Polo is a Pitbull and was most likely dumped because of his breed.

They said it was natural selection and this was meant to happen. It was appalling and Molly was appalled at what these people were saying.

Molly chose to ignore them and honor the promise she made to Polo.

In the US, there are laws and regulations when it comes to adopting stray dogs.

Before they could be adopted, the stray animals are brought to a pound, or shelter for a stray hold period. This will give them enough time to check if the stray animals have an owner.

They scan for a microchip or look for other identifying tags.

Holding periods vary per state but it’s always enough time for the owners to claim their dogs or cats.

Once the holding period was over, Polo was neutered and got his vaccines up-to-date. Then they had to arrange transport for Polo to Massachusetts.

When Polo arrived at his new home, he was glued to Molly.

He could not get close enough to her. Polo was so peaceful when he arrived there because he knew Molly did everything to keep her promise to him.

Molly and her family were no strangers to rescued animals.

They were already living with four other rescue dogs although Polo was the first dog Molly physically rescued.

It took them some time to get Polo looking healthy and getting housebroken.

There is one person though that Polo still had to impress: Molly’s dad.

Molly’s dad didn’t want them to rescue another dog anymore. Fortunately for Polo, as soon as they met, they instantly bonded.

They were constantly beside each other, cuddling with each other. Sometimes, Molly’s dad would even lie on the concrete driveway to stay beside Polo.

Grateful that he finally had his own loving home, Polo knew exactly what to do to make people and other dogs love him.
