It’s very hard for humans when their pet goes missing.

There are those constant nagging thoughts of “What happened to them?” “Where did they go?”

What’s worse is they are always wondering if they are safe or if they will return again.

That what Janet Adamowicz went through when her cat Boo disappeared in 2005.

Boo was just 4-years-old when she disappeared.

She was heartbroken and plastered her Harrogate, West Yorks neighborhood with missing posters to try and find her beloved cat.

She even put an advertisement up in the local paper.

But unfortunately, after a year Boo never came home and was never found.

So, Adamowicz decided to adopt two more cats, the three-legged Ollie in 2008 and Tessie in 2014.

But something incredible happened 13 years after Boo went missing.

Boo was brought to a local veterinarian’s office in Pocklington, East Yorks which is 40 miles away from her original home.

Boo had a microchip implanted in her so the vet was able to identify her as Boo and contact Adamowicz.

“I got a call on Thursday to say I had a cat missing,” Adamowicz told SWNS.com.

It didn’t even occur to her that it could be Boo!

“I said ‘I don’t think I do, they’re both here’ – but they said we’ve looked on the system it says you own a cat called Boo.”

Adamowicz was in total disbelief.

But when she arrived at the vet, she knew it was her long-lost Boo who was now 17-years-old.

“I thought it was weird, but I couldn’t believe it when I got to the vets and they had her there – and she still remembered me.

The senior cat was a little bit dehydrated and weary but was in good health otherwise.

“I don’t know where she had been, I think possibly a stray but kept being fed by strangers – or catching her own food.”

The woman who dropped Boo off at the vet said the cat had been roaming around the area for a few weeks.

No one has any idea how the cat got so far or how she survived for so long.

“We don’t know how she got all those 40 miles, it could have been any number of reasons,” Boo’s mom said. “She has done well as a 17-year-old cat to last that long as a stray cat – it really is remarkable.”

Either way, Adamowicz couldn’t be more happy to be reunited with her Boo.

Her other cats, however, need a little bit more convincing.

“Despite only being five-years-old she still remembers me and has been my shadow ever since coming home,” she said. ““The other two cats are not impressed, but hopefully Boo is finally home for good.”
