Deciding to own a pet means accepting that you have to be responsible for them.

As we open our homes and hearts to these beautiful souls, we also agree that we’ll prioritize their health, happiness, and well-being until we’re capable.

There will be times when we would worry about our pet’s future, in any event, that we get sick or pass away.

Angela Refuse loved her grandparents so much, and she wanted to spend her time taking care of them.

She remembered her grandfather saying he was concerned about Mackenzie, his most cherished pet cat.

Angela’s 85-year-old grandfather didn’t want Mackenzie to go to a shelter, in the event, that he pass.

With that, Angela decided to adopt her grandparent’s 15-year-old pet cat, and her grandfather felt happy knowing that his beloved Mackenzie would be taken care of.

Some would call Mackenzie a bit odd.

For the people who knew her, she was grumpy and would voice out her ‘grumpiness’ to everyone.

As Angela and Mackenzie spent more time together, she realized that her new pet cat was just like that, but she was also sweet and kind.

Angela would bond with Mackenzie, and she would post their adorable daily vlogs through TikTok.

Soon, she garnered over 660K followers.

Many seniors or terminally ill people worry about their pets, and what will happen to them, so she came up with an idea.

On May 18, 2021, on her grandfather’s birthday, Angela launched “My Grandfather’s Cat.”

It is a safe space for the elderly or terminally ill people to arrange second forever homes for their pets.

This allows them to oversee the transfer and feel at peace before they move on.

Angela has a trusted team who handles interviews, research, and other important details before they could find the perfect match.

My Grandfather’s Cat aims to oversee the perfect transition of a beloved pet to a new forever home.

The company received so many positive reviews.

According to Angela, it shocked her when she received so many requests from different people.

“My heart broke for them, and I couldn’t imagine being in that position and having to ask an organization to make an exception. So, I changed our mission to help them too,” Angela said in her website.

In February 2022, almost a year after the company was launched, My Grandfather’s Cat has already been recognized by the Canadian government as a legit registered charity.

Angela felt so happy, knowing her mission would reach more people.

Each time she meets a new client, her heart gets full by their story, and she oversees all transactions herself.

Angela knows how much each pet means.

They aren’t just animals, they are family. She knows that in a family, nobody gets to feel alone or abandoned.

This is where My Grandfather’s Cat comes in.

She died peacefully at the age of 17 years old.

It was sad news, but Angela vowed to continue serving the purpose of “My Grandfather’s Cat.”
