Right from a young age, Nicole Renae had always wanted a dog. So when her nana surprised her with a puppy one day after school, she couldn’t have been any happier. But when the family had no choice but to take the dog to the shelter, Nicole thought that she would never see her beloved dog again.
Amazingly, life had other plans, and when Nicole decided to adopt a senior dog from a shelter, she had no idea that it was going to be her old dog!
Nicole shared her reunion story with Facebook group Washington County PA What’s Going On, and her post received quite a stir in the local area, receiving 895 likes and over one hundred shares.
The heartwarming story soon began to appear in news stories, and before long, Nicole and her dog were local celebrities! And none of it would have been possible if Nicole hadn’t have spotted one important post on Facebook…
“When I was a little girl before my brother came along, I desperately wanted a puppy. A cute little puppy who would be my best friend. My nana, who is since gone, bought me this beautiful, fluffy little puppy named Chloe,” Nicole said.
“My mom and her picked me up from school one day and I saw the puppy sitting on my nanas lap in the car with a pretty pink bow in her hair. I just loved her to death.”
Nicole and Chloe bonded instantly, and the pair became the best of friends. They spent the next four years making happy memories together until Nicole’s dad broke some devastating news. He had been given a new job that unfortunately wouldn’t allow him to have a dog, and Chloe was going to have to be taken to a local shelter.
Nicole was absolutely heartbroken, and she never really got over the loss of her dog.
So when one day she spotted a Facebook post from a friend who needed to rehome an elderly dog who looked the spitting image of her old dog, Chloe, Nicole immediately began to feel excited. Not only did the dog look the same, but she also shared the same name too. Could it possibly be her?
“On a whim I said I’d take her in!” Nicole said. “I just had this feeling…”
Nicole immediately went to collect the dog, and everything began to feel increasingly familiar. Chloe seemed to fit right in, and her little quirks and traits were soon giving Nicole a sense of deja vu.
“As the day went on, different things she did/how she acted was EXACTLY what my old Chloe did,” Nicole said.
As soon as she began to realize that Chloe was her old dog, she became overcome with emotions.
“Last night I was holding her and just cried and cried because that dog was hugging me back and I just held her close to my heart,” Nicole said. “I just knew in my heart this was my Chloe.”
“I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d ever see this dog again but here she is.” Nicole concluded.
