Wolf mama’s ‘me time’ gets interrupted by her needy pups
She sure taught her cubs a valuable lesson!

Sometimes, moms just need a bit of space. When you have a new baby in the house, it can be hectic, smelly, and everyone is running on a short fuse! If you notice that mom’s fuse is a bit shorter than usual, don’t, let me repeat, DON’T tell her that. Telling someone they are cranky usually has the opposite effect and never really works.

Funny enough, animal mamas seem to have similar situations!

Animal moms can sometimes get fed up with their kids! For humans, it takes some discipline and some stern words to deal with kids (who are old enough). For other animals, however, things are a bit more physical.

The Wolf Conservation Center caught a video of a wolf mama getting disturbed by needy pups late at night.

Imagine finally getting some alone time and going to lay down for a bit. As you start to close your eyes, a kid runs in and starts pawing at your face! If that isn’t a way to make mama angry, nothing is!

In the video, we see that situation play out exactly.

Belle is a Mexican gray wolf and had recently given birth to some daughters. They were a bit older and weren’t exactly cubs anymore – let’s call them wolf-teens. They soon learned that you don’t mess with mamas alone time and are sure to not repeat their mistakes!

She looks as pleased as can be and is about to get some much-needed alone time. As she settles in for the night, a shadow passes over her. Without any hesitation, her cubs come in and start whining and pressing their paws up against her!

Suddenly, we hear some SERIOUS growling as mama loses her temper!

The growling starts, and the terrifying teeth come out – mama is NOT in the mood to play! She is visibly angry and nips at the kids as they try and placate her with their actions. Rolling on their bellies and submitting helps, but you can tell mama is still very angry.

Finally, mama has had enough, and she leaves the cubs and goes off to be by herself.

If experience mamas know anything, it’s that little ones always have a way of finding you, especially when you try to go off by yourself! You can be certain that they will disturb you right as you get settled in and think you are alone.

Belle spoke her cub’s language and nipped them right on the nose!

While some watching the video might think that Belle is unreasonably aggressive, wolves communicate physically. Belle biting them on the nose is how she teaches them valuable lessons! Lessons like “Don’t wake me when I’m sleeping, or you are going to get in trouble”!

Thankfully, mamas like Belle exist who will help the species get back on their feet. If you want a lot of kids, you better learn to discipline your kids! Belle knows this firsthand.
