When kayaking off the coast of Argentina, the last thing two explorers expected was to come across a ginormous whale in front of their path. But when they did, they instantly knew that they had to get as close as possible to the magnificent creature. So the kayakers rowed right up to the whale, and somehow they ended up right on top of its huge body!
The whale took the kayakers on a short ride on its back before gently letting them go safely on with their journey.
Amazingly, they captured the whole incredible experience on camera and shared it on YouTube for us all to see. We’re amazed that they were so calm about it all!
The video was posted on YouTube by Storyful with the caption:
“Two kayakers paused to take a closer look at some whales off the coast of Argentina, but got a shocking surprise when one of the giant creatures lifted their boat onto his back. This footage shows the whale roll over before moving slowly under the kayak and then lifting it clean out of the water close to the coastal city of Puerto Madryn. The two very surprised humans on its back are taken along for the ride, but manage to keep their cool.”
The clip has since become a viral sensation with over 2.6 million views, as well as thousands of likes and comments as people share their love for the video, and we have to admit, it’s a pretty amazing thing to witness!
The kayakers first spotted the whale from a distance, and they just knew that they had to get a closer look.
The great creature was swimming in and out of the water, and the kayakers were blown away by the fact that they were so close to such an amazing sea creature. Of course, curiosity got the better of them, and they decided to row closer – so close, in fact, that they ended up right underneath the whale!
Luckily, the two explorers manage to keep calm as the whale lifts their kayak right out of the water and takes them on a bit of a ride.
They’re even able to remain upright as the whale moves slowly through the water with the two humans on its back. We’d love to have been an eye witness at this moment in time!
Eventually, the whale kindly lets the kayak back down into the sea, and the man manages to lower his camera into the water and capture some amazing footage of the great mammal as it swims away. What an incredible experience!
People took to the comments to share their love for the video, with one person saying:
“That whale did that on purpose. He was playing with them and had total control over the boat. He held still and then set them down soft. That is so cool.”
Someone else added:
“I’m not going to lie, even though this is proof whales are gentle giants I would have been scared as hell…lol.”
Another person pointed out:
“Nobody would ever believe that story if they didn’t film it.”
