Stray and abandoned dogs often roam on the streets, alleys, and even cross dangerous and crowded roads. Moreover, unfortunate accidents sometimes occur as dogs get hit by a passing car. Sometimes the car driver would take responsibility for his/her actions yet, there are times where they would just mercilessly leave the dying animal on the street.

A car ran over a beagle but irresponsibly drove away after the accident.
On a Missouri highway, a beagle got hit by a car as it was crossing the road. However, the driver recklessly drove off and did not even take responsibility for his actions. The dog was left on the road bleeding. Luckily, a kind heart witnessed the unfortunate event and took the matter into his own hands.

This witness immediately jumped out of his car to rush onto the scene.
Aaron Schneider is a war veteran who served in Iraq. As he has seen blood and countless deaths from both enemies and comrades, he knew how depressing it is to see all these kinds of horrifying things on the battlefield.

He was driving when he witnessed the accident with the beagle. As the irresponsible driver ran off, he was the one who unhesitatingly pulled over and ran to the dog despite the traffic going 70 miles per hour. Schneider hastily pulled the dog over the side of the road and looked at what he could do in the situation.
“At the end of the day, my combat lifesaver training kicked in, and I’m thankful I was able to use it to help him,” Schneider told Fox4 News.

Schneider noticed that the dog was suffering and in pain. He also knew he couldn’t possibly carry it back to his car because of its injuries. Instead, he called 911 and hoped they could get there as fast as they could.
Three hours passed, and there was no sign of help.
Schneider sat with the helpless beagle even as rain poured over them. With no signs of help coming, Schneider eventually realized that he should take this matter into his own hands. He put the dog on a makeshift stretcher and took it to Chipman Road Animal Clinic.

It was a close battle between life and death. Thankfully, Schneider was right on time to save the beagle.
The clinic named the dog Buster, and they checked his vitals. Unfortunately, his injuries were too severe for them to treat, and so Buster was transferred to BluePearl Veterinary Partners Emergency Hospital. There, he was put into extensive care.
The doctor said that if it wasn’t for Schneider rushing Buster to the veterinarian, the dog wouldn’t have survived.

The dog recovered after some time in the hospital. An organization called Friends of KC Animals recognized Schneider’s efforts and shouldered the medical expenses.
“Having served in Iraq, you see a lot of loss, which is one of the reasons I was determined to see him make it,” Schneider said.
Since nobody claimed Buster, Schneider volunteered to adopt the dog himself. Buster was so excited to go home with his hero. Thanks to the kind-hearted people who helped them, the sweet beagle is living in a loving home with Schneider.
