Husky with very distinct looks is rejected by a breeder, but the internet is in love
An unusual-looking Husky was abandoned by her breeder and while people expressed vague interest, it took her 4 years to find her fur-ever home.

If stories about animals being rejected make you sad or angry, get ready to feel some emotions because Jubilee’s story has us all riled up.

Jubilee is a husky who happens to have some uncommon facial features that a breeder thought made her unsuitable – so they gave her to a shelter.

She’s loving and friendly, it’s solely her face that made her unwanted.

The sweet pup with the perpetually concerned-looking face had been living at a rescue facility called Husky House in Matawan, New Jersey for 2 years. Before that, her owners had given her to a kill-shelter in North Carolina.

Caroline Hilliard, who used to work with the dog down south, said in the comments that she was very adoptable:

“I loved her so much and wanted to adopt her, but was glad to hear that she was going to rescue. She was so shy but wanted to be loved”

When the facility posted about her in January 2020, they wrote on behalf of the pup:

“I’m a 4 year old female husky who has been with Husky House for a long time. I came from a “breeder” who couldn’t sell me because he said I was “weird” looking. Huskies are majestic looking dogs and I don’t know why I don’t look like them.”

Well, that’s enough to break out hearts!

The sad story made Jubilee go viral, especially on Reddit.

Of course, sympathy came pouring in, but it takes more than that to give a dog a home. Jubilee’s main issue (besides her unconventional look) is that she doesn’t like cats and she can be a little shy when she’s laughed at – which is sadly all too common.

And while many argued that she is beautiful in her own way, Husky House was quick to imply that the time for empty platitudes was over and what mattered most was finally getting this girl a home.

And they laid it on thick on behalf of Jubilee:

“Doesn’t anyone want a funny looking husky? I wish I had a family of my own who could love me even though I’m not pretty.”

Of course, many people offered to adopt her on Facebook, but that’s very different from actually showing up and filling out an application.

Jubilee got very few official inquiries.

Some inquired about out-of-state adoptions, though it’s hard to believe that no one in all of New Jersey would want this loveable dog. The shelter also requires home visits, so people have to be nearby.

They’ve also had some bad experiences with previous adopters from out-of-state:

“Sadly, we’ve also taken the chance in adopting out of state and the adoption didn’t work out. The person called and demanded we pick up the dog or they were dumping her in a local shelter. So we’ve been forced to make sure it’s a reasonable distance in case we have to get there in a hurry,” they said.

Luckily, Husky House shared some wonderful news in an update to their original post on January 14th – Jubilee found her forever home, FINALLY!

They announced:

“UPDATE – Thanks to everyone who shared Jubilee’s story. She has found her forever home with previous Husky House adopters and joins her new fur-siblings in a wonderful new life!”

While Jubilee’s new family doesn’t want to be troubled with unwanted visitors or for her to become a “circus sensation,” they understand that people are interested in her progress, so they’ve created a Facebook page for her so those who took an interest in her story can follow her. You can find it here.
