Man Walking Pit Bull Hears Screaming Child – Dog Sprints Toward Him Before He Can Do Anything
It's really sad that pit bulls get such a bad name when they are such honorable, brave creatures. Hopefully, stories like this will put an end to that.

You can say what you will about pit bulls, but they are born protectors. Though Hurley wasn’t trained as a guard dog or to provide any type of protection, his instincts would kick in he found someone in danger.

Though the handsome Hurley didn’t know the young child he saved, he put his own life in danger for the child nonetheless.

Stacie Rae English couldn’t have been more proud of her brother’s pitbull Hurley the day he saved the life a little boy. She was so moved by Hurley’s selfless act that she wrote about it in a post on Facebook that went viral.

“My brother was walking his pit bull lab mix, Hurley, in our neighborhood field around 10 pm. He walks him this late so he can let him off his leash so he can do what he loves to do, explore all the different smells,” ,” Stacie wrote in the post that was published on Love What Matters. “They heard a young kid scream and before my brother knew it, Hurley took off after the scream. With my brother close behind, he saw Hurley grab a copper head snake away from the little boy and fling it around, later found out he had killed it.”

Even though Hurley didn’t know the little boy, he jumped in to save his life.

“The little boy ran to his mother’s vehicle and drove off so fast that my brother was unable to find out any information on the little boy. (We are assuming because they left so fast that he was bitten and being rushed to the ER) My brother then went on to call animal control and the Highland Village Cops showed up to check out the scene,” Stacie explained. “They asked to take a look at Hurley to see if he was bitten.”

Unfortunately, Hurley didn’t walk away from the attack unscathed.

“To my brother’s surprise, he was bleeding, had a swollen neck and foaming from his mouth. Sure enough, they found two puncture wounds in his upper lip. Shelby rushed Hurley to Denton Animal Emergency Hospital where he stayed the night so they could check his blood clotting ability multiple times throughout the night. Shelby and Hurley both got home this morning,” Stacie wrote.

“Thank God, Hurley is doing a lot better this morning, just seems a little uncomfortable with his swollen face and neck. It was later discovered the little boy had come across a copper head nest and hopefully, Hurley prevented him from getting bitten, or at least getting bitten multiple times. We are still trying to find out who the little boy is and make sure he is okay.”

Stacie’s post was shared more than 21,000 times.

The reason she shared the post in the first place was so that people would think twice when saying negative things about pit bulls.

“Here’s our hero pit bull,” she said. “I’d like for his story to get around for those who judge his breed.”

And it looks like she succeeded.
