With all the things going on around the world like the pandemic, undying issues about racial discrimination, inflation, and now the war – puppies could give us that much-awaited break.
Why not? Aside from babies, puppies are the most adorable creatures that you would see on the internet and in real life, wouldn’t you agree?
A timely and bright idea at the same time!
Everyone is going through a battle we know nothing about. We are all victims of this society and whatever crisis it’s currently facing.
I bet you’d agree with me if I say we need a ‘snuggle’.
Luckily, an animal shelter in Richmond, Virginia thought of sharing the ‘good vibes’ amongst its citizen and even with other people who are out of their state.
Meet the cuddly animals at Richmond Animal Care and Control!
It’s a non-profit organization that supports and cares for animals in need of a home. Just recently, they came up with the idea about the ‘puppy snuggle’ service.
As they wrote on a Facebook post, “After 2 years of Covid, social upheaval and now a war, we think we could all use a little puppy cuddle time. So that’s just what we are offering!”
It turns out that interacting with pets is therapeutic. It’s greatly beneficial to our mental health.
According to helpguide.org,
“Stroking, hugging, or otherwise touching a loving animal can rapidly calm and soothe you when you’re stressed or anxious. The companionship of a pet can also ease loneliness, and most dogs are a great stimulus for healthy exercise, which can substantially boost your mood and ease depression.”
They offered the service so people could get away from reality’s toxicity by snuggling some furry pups.
They began when they had a litter of seven Great Pyrenees puppies. People can book the service and set an appointment online. Each session to snuggle a pup usually runs for 30 minutes.
“All day Sunday 4/3 you can sign up for 30 minutes in a room at RACC to kiss these love buckets until your heart and soul is happy. The rooms are private-if you need to lay on the floor and cry 😭 (no judgement -we will provide tissues), if you can’t stop giggling with joy 🤣 (we encourage it), if you want to take 762 selfies (have at it). Basically, the world is hard right now. Mental health is real. COME HUG A PUPPY!”
It’s basically either a session with a pup or a group of furballs where you can let it all out. Whatever’s bothering you inside that you need to release.
These cute pups will help you exhale all the negativity and embrace the positive ones.
Shockingly, just after a few hours after posting it on social media, they’ve already received over 400 requests!
It exploded like a time bomb and people swarmed Richmond Animal Care and Control’s ‘puppy snuggles’ service.
It only shows the number of people who need this kind of service. Whether they need it to destress or just have fun, the service definitely became an instant hit!
Although RACC continues to accept requests, they made it clear that the pups under the snuggle service aren’t up for adoption.
Nevertheless, they always have other dogs who are in need of a forever home and family.
