There’s something truly magical about the bond between kids and their dogs.

It’s in these friendships where we find some of life’s most tender moments.

From playing fetch in the yard to sharing snacks under the table, kids and dogs seem to go together like peanut butter and jelly.

Take Finn Knudston and his boxer, Brutus, for example.

The 23-month-old toddler from Richmond, Virginia, and his four-year-old boxer are inseparable in every sense of the word.

Their special bond was adorably caught on camera one night.

When Mom checked the monitor through her phone, her heart melted into a puddle.

Little Finn, armed with his sheets and teddy bear, decided Brutus’ dog bed was the perfect place to spend the night.

Paige, Finn’s mom, was curious about this nightly ritual and wanted to capture it on film.

In the video, Finn quietly climbs out of bed to go cuddle with his four-legged buddy.

Brutus stays mainly asleep while the toddler climbs all over him trying to get comfy.

Every moment is cuteness overload, as it’s easy to see how much they love each other.

They were friends from the start.

Born with a heart defect, Finn had to undergo emergency surgery right after birth.

Reflecting on those days, Paige told DailyMail,

“Once we got home it was as if Brutus just knew Finn needed some extra close monitoring, and he has been by his side ever since.”

This shows just how intuitive and protective dogs, particularly boxers like Brutus, can be.

Boxers are known for their vibrant, playful nature, and Brutus is no exception.

These dogs are fantastic with kids, making them perfect family pets.

Brutus’ protective instincts towards Finn are a shining example of how dogs often become more than pets – they become guardians for the little ones in the family.

The benefits of growing up with a pet, especially a dog, are countless.

They teach kids about responsibility, empathy, and compassion.

More than that, pets offer a unique kind of comfort and stress relief for children, always there to listen and cuddle.

For Finn, Brutus has been more than a pet – he’s been a guardian angel and a source of constant comfort.

Paige has been capturing the journey of Finn and Brutus, sharing adorable moments of them snuggled up together.

She confidently says:

“I was not concerned Brutus would get annoyed because he has tolerated and behaved so incredibly well in other situations, so Finn rolling and climbing around him was something I knew he would not be fazed by. Brutus insists on being in Finn’s room and he’s not the kind of dog to do something he doesn’t want to do, no one is forcing him to be in that situation.”
