The war in Ukraine has greatly affected not only its people but also its animals.

The country is known to be pet-loving, with an estimated 750,000 dogs and 5.5 million cats as pets. Most families who fled from their homes at the start of the war left only holding the bare necessities, including their pets.

Inevitably, some animals are left behind. In one Ukrainian village, most animals aren’t spayed, and puppies are abandoned or left alone to roam around. Many volunteers and organizations help rescue these animals, including Love Furry Friends.

The person behind Love Furry Friends is Olena, who lives in Ukraine and rescues homeless and abandoned dogs.

She then cares for them before helping them find permanent homes.

One of these rescued dogs is Misha.

She found Misha alone on an empty road while driving through her village. After stopping the car, she followed the abandoned puppy and coaxed him to come with her.

When she picked up Misha, he grabbed her arm, and it seemed like he was clinging to her and didn’t want to let go.

She brought Misha to the vet, where they treated Misha for fever and diarrhea. They also fed the puppy, who quickly finished the whole bowl of food.

His rescuer even chose cute toys for Misha to play with at home.

A few days later, Misha had his first bath in his whole life.

At first, he looked uncomfortable, but he began enjoying the tub after a few minutes.

During his bath, another rescue dog named Mona kept licking him and hovering around him. It looked like she was checking how he was doing and reassuring him that he was fine.

After spending a few days with his rescuer and fellow rescue dogs, Misha transformed from a scared puppy to a happy and playful one.

Thanks to Mona and the other dogs living with them, Misha quickly learned how to socialize with people and other dogs.

He loved playing with his new owner, toys, and other dogs. Misha also walked around with his favorite toy in his mouth.

Misha’s healthy appetite continued, and you can see that he slowly and surely started getting bigger.

The rescued pup also enjoyed a comfortable new life, watching bedtime cartoons, and getting a belly rub before sleeping.

Misha was also treated for parasites and got his vaccinations. He then received his veterinary passport and was completely ready for adoption.

The next step was to hold a lovely photo shoot of Misha to show off his best angles and find the best family for him.

He looked adorable, posing among sunflowers and haystacks.

The photoshoot worked, and soon Misha was adopted by a caring family, officially starting his new life as a beloved pet.
