Each one of us has a dream that we want to fulfill. It might be something that could take a long time to realize, or it could be something small and easy to achieve that does not take too much time and resources.
There are also dreams that one may have not expected to be realized so quickly, especially if it is something grand and resource consuming. In today’s story, we will talk about a 17-year-old boy who already achieved his dream of building his own animal shelter.
His drive is focused on helping others in need.
Eduardo Caiado is a 17-year-old boy who lives in Anapolis, Brazil. He has a passionate desire to help both humans and animals alike. He uses everything in his power to lend a hand to everyone. There was even a time when he bought the elderly in his local nursing home gifts using his own money.
Caiado also thinks about what is best for his country, and he has come up with many ideas that have helped people. In fact, he proposed an idea of reusing rainwater to provide drinkable water for everyone. For this idea, he was recognized as one of the 50 Young Inspirers of the United Nations.
Caiado also opened up an animal shelter to try to help the abandoned animals in his area.
“The region where I live is cold, and many stray dogs were dying of hypothermia,” Caiado shared with Bored Panda. “There are no public actions, so I decided to help.”
He started grabbing many blankets, creating small houses, and feeding the dogs that he rescued on his own. He started looking after three dogs, but the number kept growing as the days passed.
“When I went to see them again, there were already ten. Everyone followed me,” he added.
Rescuing dogs and opening a shelter for them has been his dream since he was nine years old. Eight years later, he was already taking care of abandoned and helpless dogs in his neighborhood. He started an organization called the EduPaçoca Institute.
How the EduPaçoca Institute works.
Caiado humbly accepts all that he gets from the people who support him. His animal shelter runs with his power and the help of the donations that he gets from other people. The funds are divided equally to cover food, shelter materials, and other expenses.
He gives his rescued cats and dogs lots of affection, and he loves to learn more about their unique traits. Caiado hopes to have his cats and dogs be adopted by the kind hearts in his community. However, he is also ready to make this shelter the animals’ permanent home if no one adopts them.
Caiado’s kindness knows no bounds.
His dream to make the world a better place is slowly in progress, and it is a great thing that his fellow citizens support him.
“I try to make this world a better place,” he said. “And I know that the miracle that people ask of God is in the action that is done on a daily basis, whether it is feeding a stray dog or helping an elderly person by writing some letters.”
