It was a miracle this poor baby survived.

It’s clear that some people should never come anywhere near animals and this horrifying case proves why.

An 18-year-old teen shot his pit bull in the face because ‘he didn’t have time for the vet.’

The teen from Missouri, Harley M, shot his pup Zara point plank in the face with a shotgun he borrowed from a friend. He drove her down a gravel road and pulled the trigger, with the intention to end her life in one of the most horrific ways possible. A normal person would just go to the veterinarian, but apparently, Harley didn’t care about his pup’s wellbeing at all.

Miraculously, the pup Zara survived, although her life was hanging on a very loose thread. The police report stated that Zara was “lying in the gravel, not moving.”

Zara was in immense pain, but first responders and rescuers did everything they could to try and help this poor pup.

The animal rescue group Unleashed Pet Rescue from Kansas took the little pup in, who they then named Gloria.

“This is unthinkably cruel,” CEO of the organization Danielle Reno wrote on their Facebook page. “This is sick s— and it needs to end.”

As you can imagine, Gloria’s injuries were quite extensive and the dog was in unthinkable pain. Some of the pellets went through her entire face, and she also had multiple gunshot wounds in the abdomen. Luckily, she was given antibiotics and painkillers right away to relieve some of her pain.

“There’s a gaping hole in the side of her face that you can see her teeth through,” the organization added.

Even though her condition looked very dire, the organization wrote that Gloria was still in good spirits, regularly ate and drank and liked giving ‘stinky kisses.’

Generous supporters gathered more than $5,000 on Facebook to pay for Gloria’s surgeries and care.

The surgery was planned for a couple of days after rescuers found her. Her road to recovery began.

The doctors think that the teen wanted to shoot his pup directly between the eyes, but the pup then suddenly moved her head upward. That small move probably ended up saving her life, as the shotgun pellets just missed her brain and went through her cheek instead. Nonetheless, the damage was still substantial as she suffered a broken jaw and a completely shattered eye bone.

Her first surgery went well and her most important injuries were taken care of, but additional surgeries were needed and the four-footer was still in severe pain. However, doctors estimated that Gloria would be ready to be put up for adoption in just a couple of months.

“She’s a wonderful dog,” Danielle said to. “She is available for adoption and we’re going to make sure she goes somewhere every dog dreams of, because she deserves it.”

Someone recognized the pup from pictures and was able to link Gloria to the teen who then confessed.

A previous owner of the pup had recognized her on the pictures online, and still had contact information of the next owner, Harley. That’s how the police were able to apprehend this teen and arrest him for his heinous actions.

He has been charged with a felony of animal abuse, and also released a statement on the case.

“I shot Zara because she was attacking my dog and I thought she was showing early signs of Rabies. So I thought I’d put her down but I guess I didn’t and didn’t have no time for the vet that morning.”

Absolutely despicable.

The most important part, however, is that Gloria is finally doing better again – against all odds. She’s currently residing at a foster home, but when she’s fully healed again, she’ll be put up for adoption.
