Do you like classical music? If you do, you’re probably familiar with the masterpieces of great composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach, and if you don’t, there’s a first time for everything!
Playing classical music is no easy feat even for the most talented humans and it takes years of hard practice and dedication to get good. How would you react if you actually heard a parrot perform Beethoven… on her second day of learning?
Jenny the Parrot loves music but no one knew how talented she was until she started practicing
It’s no secret that parrots enjoy music. These avians love a catchy beat, listening to music on the radio or TV, and are likely to join in if they like what they hear! Just like us, parrots can dance in the rhythms of the music they hear and they are certainly not shy about showing their talent to the world!
Jenny, an African Grey Parrot, doesn’t just like any music, she’s into the classics!
She can already count and say ‘Alexa’ but her real love is the piano
‘Alexa, are you ready?’ became Jenny’s favorite sentence and it was pretty impressive to hear her speak! She wouldn’t stop there, however. Soon enough she was starting to learn to count and her creativity showed when she started making up the numbers!
Playing Beethoven? No problem for Jenny!
After she was done learning to count to four, Jenny fully unleashed her inner artist by playing on a slab digital piano! One would think that despite her impressive progress up to that point, the classics would be too much to handle for this talented avian but Jenny would soon prove the naysayers very much wrong!
Parrots are extremely clever birds who can actually recognize the beat on their own!
For a long time, we thought parrots were simply mimicking our movement and copying the movements of humans until scientists discovered that these amazing birds can actually recognize the beat on their own and react to it accordingly!
If they love a tune, parrots are likely to respond to it without help or encouragement from humans.
So… what kind of music do parrots like?
Turns out they love catchy tunes you can dance to. Think Michael Jackson, Elvis, and Bruno Mars kind of beat! They may not exactly understand music the way we do, but they enjoy the rhythm and can develop a musical taste of their own!
Jenny shows everyone how it’s done
Other avians may satisfy themselves chirping to the beat of a popular pop tune but Jenny had bigger fish to fry! Chances are, you’ve heard Beethoven’s famous Ode to Joy many times but you certainly never heard a parrot perform it as well as Jenny and on her second day of learning at that!
Listening to Jenny perform Beethoven was incredibly heartwarming
We’re sure you enjoyed Jenny’s amazing performance as much as we did. It’s not every day we can hear a parrot play Beethoven so well. Instead of resting on her well-deserved laurels, our avian maestro continued to perform on her piano.
You can find Jenny’s latest performance on her Facebook page, it’s sure to make your day brighter! Now… let’s have a round of applause for this special avian! Chirp, chirp!
