Meet Bonnie and Clyde.
They are a couple of swans living near a lake in Crew, England. The pair have become something of local celebrities due to their adorable love affair.
The whole town has come to expect that if you see one of the swans, the other is likely somewhere nearby.
Unfortunately, one day some people noticed that Bonnie appeared to have an injured leg. They called the local RSPCA chapter for assistance.
In response, rescue teams were sent onto the water to bring Bonnie in for a check-up. Bonnie, however, was not altogether keen on going anywhere without Clyde by her side.

Bonnie doesn’t want to leave Clyde.
“This was a tricky rescue as the female swan was quite feisty so it took four of our water rescue team to bring her to safety using two rescue rafts,” stated Steve Wickham, RSPCA animal welfare officer, via press release.
Perhaps the reason Bonnie was a more tricky rescue than the team is used to is that she really didn’t want to leave Clyde behind. She didn’t want to go anywhere if Clyde wasn’t going to come with her.
And so Bonnie finally meets up with Clyde again!! Love on Valentine's Day……perfect timing!! ❤🦢❤🦢❤ @RSPCA_official @CherylHague @RachRSPCA @nantwichnews @thisisthecat @ThisIsCrewe @RedShiftRadioUK @BBCRadioStoke pic.twitter.com/0rabN0KCtx

The injured swan was transported to the RSPCA Stapeley Grange Wildlife Center.
They wanted to treat her injuries and reunite her with Clyde as quickly as possible.
As much as she didn’t want to leave her partner, we’re sure he didn’t want to see her go either!

Bonnie healed enough to be released back into the wild.
The team at the Wildlife Center determined that Bonnie’s leg will likely never heal fully. This was deemed to be due to an older and untreated injury.
They were able to fix her up good enough that she could safely be released back into the wild, however.
More importantly, she could be reunited with Clyde once again!
🦢💙🦢 Bonnie and Clyde were reunited just in time for Valentine's Day and the moment was magical! Bonnie had to spend about a month in the Wildlife Center.
Not only is a month a long time to be away from someone you care about, neither Bonnie nor Clyde knew when they could expect to see the other one again. For all they knew, they might never get to share in each other’s company again.
Once Bonnie was deemed healthy enough, however, she was taken back to the lake to see her other half.
Reunited (and it feels so good)!
When Bonnie was released near the lake, she wasted no time heading straight over to Clyde. The couple then made a heart-shape with their necks, as loving swans are one to do.
“Love was really in the air when we released Bonnie back into the wild,” said Lee Stewart, who was the manager of the center at the time.
“When she was released, she bounded towards her mate and almost immediately the pair made the shape of a love heart with their long necks. It was a lovely moment!”
The outline of a heart is a symbol of love for us human beings. Swans make the same symbol with their necks during courtship as well. It means love in two different ways for two different animals!
Swans in love.
Bonnie and Clyde couldn’t stop nuzzling each other during their emotional reunion. It must have been a confusing and upsetting time for both of them but after a month away from one another, their love certainly hadn’t waned even a little.
Now, both swans can enjoy spending time with one another by the lake, and Bonnie’s leg isn’t bothering her as much. Hopefully, they will never be separated again.
