A group of students recently demonstrated an act of kindness that touched the hearts of many.
While walking home after spending some time in a coffee shop in Machester, Ben Camphor and Jack Spencer Furmston caught sight of Batu Akyul.
At first, they thought she was walking a duck with the way she was leaning towards the river.
After looking closer, they realized that the woman was struggling with something.
The 20-year-old men realized that Batu was trying to reach her dog, who fell over the canal wall.
And judging by how she was looking, she was far from succeeding.
How the dog fell is unclear, but he was clearly in trouble.
Without hesitation, the two rushed over to offer their assistance.
They formed a human chain, with Ben suspended by his legs to reach Sumak.
They knew they had to help quickly.
After a few tense moments, they were able to pull the dog to safety and reunite him with his relieved owner.
Everyone’s panic turned into happy cheers and smiles.
The dog was clearly grateful too.
He started wagging his tail as soon as he felt he was safe and out of trouble.
In an interview, Ben shared:
“I couldn’t let that dog down and not help, so I took off my jumper and jumped down first. ‘I’m a dog owner myself, so there was no way I was going to leave it alone, but I couldn’t get it the first time.”
The heartwarming moment was captured on camera and has since gone viral on social media.
Dabhidh MchicEamailinn was walking by when he saw what was happening.
He grabbed his phone, pressed the record button, and uploaded the footage to Twitter.
The two brave men have been praised for their selfless act, with many commenting on the kindness and compassion they demonstrated towards the dog and his owner.
