A street dog in Udaipur, India, was found stuck in a hot drum of tar and unable to get out for upwards of several days. The dog was discovered by the team at Animal Aid Unlimited and was discovered hyperventilating and terrified.

The team at Animal Aid Unlimited note that she most likely got into the tar at night and that her body heat warmed up the tar enough to soften it, only for her to be unable to get out afterward.

The team immediately cut into the drum and tried to remove her, but eventually had to take the entire drum to another site, where they used oil to slowly separate the tar from her fur and skin. They were able to separate her from the oil drum after about an hour of rubbing vegetable oil, and it took another few hours to get the tar off her. They also saw that the tar had left burn marks all over her as well.

While she seemed to have given up hope when she was stuck in the tar, she’s since become incredibly healthy and alive with the help of loving caretakers! They’ve named her Asha, and she’s healthier than ever!

Street dogs aren’t able to get the help they need at all times, and situations like this depend on loving volunteers and organizations to aid those that are in need. Asha truly has another chance at life, and we hope she spends the rest of her days with as much love as she is getting now!
