One day, Animal Aid Unlimited in India received a tip about a stray dog with a severe case of mange. They rescued the scared and sick dog and brought him to their shelter. Once he was there they quickly began treating him.

When the pup got to the shelter, one of the rescuers tried to comfort him by petting him. The pup hadn’t been touched in a long time, and he looked surprised when the rescuer gently patted his head. Even though he was a little unsure, he let the rescuer pet him—he clearly trusted this person who had shown him kindness.

The rescuers fed him and then gave him a bath that included mange medication. Because his case of mange was so severe, he had to take many baths before he was healed. The pup was calm as the rescuer applied the medicine to his skin.

As the days went on, the rescuers continued giving the dog medicine, and he slowly started getting better.

The rescuers shot more footage of the pup six weeks after he was rescued. In this footage, you can clearly see how much better he’s doing. Over his first six weeks in the shelter, he gained weight and most of his fur grew back. He had more energy and played with the other dogs. He also loved getting his head rubbed by the shelter workers.
