One hot summer day, the Arizona Humane Society received a very strange call. There was a stray pit bull trapped on a roof that needed to be rescued.
Nobody knew how the dog had gotten onto the roof, but it was clear he wouldn’t be able to get down on his own.
When Andy arrived at the property, the pittie named Khan was indeed on the roof, and he was looking down at the rescue team as if him being on the roof was the most normal thing in the world.
Speaking to the camera on the rescue team’s YouTube video, Andy said:
“The call kind of threw me off when I first got it because you don’t hear about dogs on rooftops very often. Right away I was like ‘alright, get me up on that roof.'”
Andy approaches Khan carefully and asks, “Hey buddy, how did you get up there?” and “what are you doing, beautiful?”
In response Khan leaps around gleefully, seeming overjoyed that he is finally about to be rescued. As Andy climbs closer to the roof, Khan even starts to whine as his tail wags a mile a minute.
Andy described the little guy as “real soft” and “happy,” and as he pets Khan the excited pup begins to roll around all over the roof.
Naturally, Andy is worried about Khan falling from the roof.
So he decides that the best course of action is to get on up there with the pooch and try to lower him down for another rescuer to take hold of him. But it was going to be a challenge to keep Khan calm! Andy said:
“Three or four times he nearly knocked me off the roof because he was so excited.”
Luckily, Andy and his team member managed to get Khan safely down, and as soon as all four paws touch the ground Khan becomes ecstatic!
He leaps up at his rescuers and tries to lick every inch of their faces.
“It’s definitely one of those rescues where you feel like the dog knows what you did,” Andy said.
The team tried to fathom just how Andy had ended up on the roof, but eventually, they had to accept that they would never know.
“I looked everywhere,” Andy said. “I have no idea how he got up on the roof.”
Andy and his co-worker transported Khan over to the rescue center’s trauma hospital for a quick check-up.
Nobody could figure out where the little guy had come from and how he got up onto the roof.
Khan’s charming personality soon won over the whole of the rescue team. They knew it wouldn’t be long until he got adopted!
Lindsey Clark fell in love with Khan from the moment that she met him. She said:
“I thought there’s no way he’s still at the pound, he’s super cute, and they’re like ‘oh no, he’s still here.'”
Knowing that she couldn’t wait much longer, Lindsey drove straight to the shelter and adopted Khan.
“He was very timid at first and he wanted to behave and takes things slow.” Lindsey said. “Now he just absolutely rules this house.”
Apparently, Khan is “rowdy and rambunctious”– sometimes he wants to listen to instructions, and sometimes the little guy is happy just doing his own thing.
“He’s honestly more cuddly than any dog I’ve ever owned,” Lindsey said. “He’s just super lovable.”
The pup still gets a ‘case of the wiggles’ when he’s happy. Sometimes, he wags his tail so hard his whole body wiggles. What a cutie.
We’re so glad Khan was saved from the roof and found such a wonderful forever home. Learn more about Khan in the video below!
