Some stray dogs, no matter how content, yearn for a forever home.
Some of these dogs even become usual fixtures in a place, especially in spots where communities congregate.
In these places, they get to eat some scrap food, maybe experience warm attention, and a bit of socialization. Then, they’d return to where they “live” – a place without shelter and safety.
A stray dog has been interacting with people in a gas station in Ukraine.
She’s so common in the area that people grew accustomed to her presence. She, too, developed that kind of comfort toward strangers.
One of the things that helped her survive thus far is her innate gentleness. As such, she’s rewarded with treats, leftover food, or maybe a brief petting.
She has been staying in the gas station for a very long time.
She’s often seen roaming around the pumps, lying down under the shade when the sun is out, or sitting close to the customers who are eating their food.
If she’s not in the pump station, she’s most likely playing or foraging in the nearby open field.
Even with her “tenure”, no one knows a lot about her.
No one knows if someone owned her and if she was abandoned, lost, or ran away. They don’t know if she was born a stray.
At some point, she even gave birth to puppies. Even then, no one knew what happened to the puppies.
Then, an animal rescuer passed by the said gas station.
The owner of the YouTube channel Love Furry Friends is an animal lover and she quickly noticed the stray dog walking about. At first, their interactions were a bit shy and reserved. But eventually, the dog became comfortable with the rescuer.
Then, she asked around the pump station about the dog. When she confirmed that the dog was a stray, she took it upon herself to take care of her. It was the moment that this dog’s life changed for the better. From here on, someone will be at the receiving end of her loving nature and she will experience what it feels like to be cared for.
Her rehabilitation started in the veterinarian’s clinic.
She was checked for parasites and fleas. She also underwent a general health check to see if there are things that need to be addressed urgently.
She was given medication for some swelling and inflammation and for her fur. Then, she was groomed so her true beauty will come out.
The rescuer said that if Linda, the name she gave the dog, is well-kept and healthy, there’s a big chance she’ll be rehomed.
For now, however, she gets to enjoy a warm home.
From taking shelter under whatever structure was available, Linda now gets to sleep in a warm bed. Instead of begging, she now eats regularly.
Eventually, Linda was adopted by a loving family. She now lives her life in comfort and affection. And it’s all thanks to the woman who showed her compassion when she needed it the most.
