Every stray dog has a story, and most of these stories are sad or traumatic.
Each time we go out, we might see a stray animal needing our help.
Can you imagine how many animals are trying to survive?
Each one of them hopes that maybe, someone might care enough to rescue them and give them the home they deserve.
This is a story of hope, love, and second chances.
One day, Christine Hilberg saw a tiny dog outside a home.
The dog was shaking, thin, with matted hair. It was obvious that she was a stray.
Christine tried to go near the dog, but she rushed away from her. She disappeared into a dark alley.
She couldn’t get the tiny dog off of her mind.
Until one night she brought some delicious meal for her and found her lying in a pile of trash.
The famished dog ate everything in the bowl.
Since then, Christine would check on the tiny dog every day for six days.
She also brought her some turkey, which she loved.
Christine knew her boundaries.
She didn’t stare or try to chase the tiny dog. She would just sit with her and wait for her to open up to her.
It was all about patience and building trust.
Little by little, the tiny dog would get close to Christine.
There was even a time when she stuck her head on a crate to retrieve a treat.
She would even watch the dog take naps and would even lie down with her.
One time, Christine tried to put a leash on the sleeping dog but failed.
On the seventh day, Christine had already brought some help.
Ellen and Lindsay from Deity Animal Rescue and Mike from Catching Paws brought with them a big net.
After some attempts, they caught the tiny dog.
Christine told the dog that from then on, her life will change for the better.
She named the tiny dog Hope.
Christine brought her home and gave her a warm bath, groomed her and they also visited the vet.
She didn’t want Hope to be forced into anything, so she did everything she could under the dog’s timing.
Soon, Hope started opening up to her.
From trying to build a connection a week before, to lovingly cuddling the sweetest dog.
Hope had blossomed into a different dog.
All it took was a little time, patience, and a lot of love.
Christine knew that Hope’s future was going to be bright and joyful.
She even shared that she loves belly rubs, snack time, and zoomies in the living room.
After a few days, Christine received an adoption application from a lovely couple.
They went to Christine’s home to see Hope and they planned to discuss the adoption afterwards.
To everyone’s surprise, Hope warmed to the couple easily.
You’ve guessed it, they brought her home that day.
Today, Hope has a big brother dog, goes on adventures on the beach, and loves every day of her life. Her mom documents it all on her Instagram.
